Hidden Strings is such a great idea! Artful Dodge is good but I always have an eye for the future, on next month they cant be used anymore. I have almost none of these cards so I wouldnt like to start with cards that go away from standard soon. Ofc I will upgrade this afterwards. I had same opinions and doubts with Divination but then I realized that with Goblin Electromancer s I can drop the cost to 1 island and 1 random mana or even to 1 island if I have two goblins. I hope it will increase my deck speed and I still get procs with Divination .
Dynacharge s are also a great idea! I can already see finishing combo with Teleportal overload and Dynacharge overload. I was never heard of Dynacharge spell before. I will follow nivix pyrosnipe, it looks like I could get useful tips from there!

I noticed that you have Disperse in your maybeboard but i find that Unsummon is much better. Also i really like Cyclonic Rift as an option because you can overload it and it can get bounce noncreature permanents unlike unsummon.

I was thinking of Unsummon , because people usually hate things like Guttersnipe , but then I saw that it wasnt in M14 so you can't use it anytime soon on standard. So I was planning that Unsummons/Disperse s could save Guttersnipes and Pyromancers from murders and things like that and in the same time if saving is not needed, use it against enemy, very flexible I could say. Cyclonic Rift only works on permanents you don't control. Cause otherwise it can be quite easy to loose to decks with target creature killing things. And this deck is imo nothing without some pyromancers and snipes on the field all the time.
That was my idea in it, i'm just not sure if it's a good idea.

If your looking at protecting your creatures with Disperse a different option would be Mizzium Skin because you can overload it, it is cheap, and gives your creatures and extra toughness in combat and hexproof
August 8, 2013 8:17 p.m.
Just realized your already using Mizzium Skin . If your looking for versatility a great card that im using is Turn / Burn which is expensive but effectively kills Thragtusk and other creatures with leaving the battlefield abilities.
August 8, 2013 8:21 p.m.
Also i am hoping for some cheap card draw spells in thereos because most of them are leaving and Divination is only good with and electromancer out and would work much better as an instant
August 8, 2013 8:23 p.m.
Quicken ? 1 drop blue draw a card. Its first ability inst as good as being able to draw a card for one in this deck
August 8, 2013 8:26 p.m.
I was thinking about Quicken for my deck nivix guttermancer (changed name) because i have so many sorcery speed spells in my deck and with a Goblin Electromancer you save a mana on the sorcery your playing meaning quicken is free in a way. An example would be playing mizzium mortars on their turn with quicken costs in total only 2 mana with an electromancer out.
August 8, 2013 8:31 p.m.
and you draw a card don't forget that. This is the deck i put together that looks alot like yours Really Big Creature Itty-Bitty Casting Cost

Turn / Burn looks really great and I would like to fit Faithless Looting into the deck too. But im having a hard time to decide what to throw away. Would be awesome to use 1 island to get two cards and proc so I wouldn't want to throw Divination away and in the same time I'd like to have Faithless Looting to increase my speed even more! I just cant decide what to take away. Turn / Burn will definetely go into sideboard, cause its needed to things like Thragtusk but if theres no such things, then I rather pick something else from my deck.
Thx for tips! If you can suggest what cards should I take away so that I can fit Faithless Looting in, that would help a lot. Im still considering leaving Divination cards.
August 8, 2013 8:36 p.m.
I feel like inatead of faithless looting Izzet Charm works very well too. This is because you can get the exact same effect but at instant speed for an extra blue mana. You dont get flashback but the charm is like a Faithless Looting , Shock , and Negate all packed into one. You could probably take two Shock out for two Izzet Charm because the charm deals two damage. I thin the most fun card that could go into this deck is Dragonshift which would with young pyromancer but it is too expensive and doesnt do enough without lots of tokens.

Would be so much easier to test things out if I could get these cards and play with someone and try out. Shock can do damage to player, what Izzet Charm cant, but Izzet Charm is much more flexible. I will add some charms and leave some Shock to side-board, that feels good to me.
August 8, 2013 8:56 p.m.
Your right that izzet charm cant target players i forgot about that
August 8, 2013 9:02 p.m.
But 2 damage isn't a significant amount of damage to a player making shock generally only good with one or two guttersnipes out where izzet charm will deal damage to a creature and set off the guttersnipes.

Your comment makes a lot of sense... I now have 4 charms and shocks are in sideboard for just in case of emergency.
But now a good question: Should I take some Quicken cards? And.. do I really need 4 Goblin Electromancer ? And! Should I replace Dynacharge cards with Weapon Surge cards? First strike is so tempting. From Really Big Creature Itty-Bitty Casting Cost I got this Surge idea so credits for LeoKey! :)
August 8, 2013 9:24 p.m.
Honestly im not so sure about using Quicken just to draw one card. However all of the spells in this type of deck are cheap meaning there is a fair chance that you will have enough mana to cast quicken and a sorcery like hidden strings. I think that we would need to test it somehow before i can really decide whether i like quicken or not. Also Hypersonic Dragon has a similar effect and can hit in for the last points of damage. As far as Dynacharge vs Weapon Surge im not very sure first strike is tempting but i suggested Armed / Dangerous to really-big-creature-itty-bitty-casting-cost and it seems like it might be better than both. Dynacharge works better with teleportal because you get an extra point of damage. I feel like weapon surge is a better defensive spell cuz you can block and then give the cyclops +4/+0 and first strike but dynacharge works better offensively. And interesting card in this deck could also be Fireshrieker
August 8, 2013 9:36 p.m.
Btw you have 4 izzet charm in you mb and 2 in your sb and you have 18 cards in your sb.

I now took the izzet charms away from sb. Im quite new in Mtg so Im not really sure what sideboard is meant to be. I think that there are cards which you can use against different decks. In all of them, there are certain tactical element to some specific decks. Only Faithless looting doesnt have that idea. So should I keep sb card amount in low? Fireshrieker and Hypersonic Dragon both feels good but I just dont know what to take off. Could Hypersonic Dragon be too expensive for this deck? So now I need suggestions what to throw away from my deck before putting more cards in.
Thanks beardie88 for all the comments. They have been really helpful. My deck feels so different from what it was but in the same time, so much better and flexible!
August 8, 2013 9:54 p.m.
Np i havent been playing for too long either only a few years but im pretty sure Armed / Dangerous is better than fireshrieker because it sets of guttersnipe and young pyromancer and the cyclops. I have been considering the dragon and im wondering if it costs too much mana and what too take out myself. A sideboard consists of up to 15 cards since the new rules it used to be it had to be exactly 15 that you can switch out with your deck after the first and second game in a magic match. Since the rule changes of m14 after each game you can put in any number of cards from your sideboard and take out any number of cards from your mainboard as long as you have at least 60 main board. Mainboard cards are generally cards that work well against most types of decks that are exchanged against decks they dont work well against for cards in your sideboard that are usually good against a few decks but not most.

Ah! I didn't know that there was a limit in sideboard. Good to know! I will fix the sideboard to 15 cards. But now its my time to rest a bit.. I will continue improving this deck tomorrow.

Hands of Binding added to the maybedeck. Any thoughs? Costs 2 mana and could be quite nice when added to Guttersnipe and using the Cipher.
August 9, 2013 12:51 p.m.
Guttersnipe doesnt trigger cipher when you play spells because cipher triggers when combat damage is dealt. I was just at my LGS played a couple rounds with my deck and realized that Armed / Dangerous is better that Hidden Strings . I bought 4 armed and dangerous there but i think 3 armed and another mizzium mortars or turn and burn might be better.

I changed my deck nivix guttermancer around quite a bit if you want to take another look at it

Argh... there goes my nice guttersnipe ideas for ciphers. :D Well..I shall seek tips from your deck. Your sideboard looks quite interesting compered to mine.

Hidden Strings works well in this deck because you can in a way cast is for free by untapping your lands. Also Artful Dodge and Faithless Looting can be good cards. Divination is too expensive in my opinion and Dynacharge works better with Nivix Cyclops and Artful Dodge or Teleportal than Thunder Strike does. I'm making a deck like this called nivix pyrosnipe that you can take a look at if you want.
