Intro:
I've attempted to make this deck a heavy "nuker." That is to say, sudden bursts of massive damage.
To do this, the deck focuses primarily on instants and sorceries, copying those instants and sorceries, and utilizing creatures that synergize with casting instants and sorceries. Oh and yes, I know copying an instant or sorcery is not the same as copying and casting said instant or sorcery xP
Core:
I would have to say this deck's core cards are Goblin Electromancer, Guttersnipe, and Blast of Genius.
Goblin Electromancer allows me to cast expensive cards for relatively cheap and early on in the game. In addition, the deck carries some draw potential so I always have something to cast or fling with my Blast of Genius.
Or more interestingly, the deck has 3 Index which give a bit of control over what I draw which synergizes well by...
1) Letting me choose what to draw/drop from Blast of Genius,
2) Can accelerate or make sure I get the miracle cost of Thunderous Wrath
3) Choose exactly which instants or sorceries I want to throw around and use with Guttersnipe
4) Give me a turn one that I otherwise lack
5) And my personal favorite: Decide what spell Melek, Izzet Paragon will copy.
By the way, speaking of Blast of Genius, I added 2 Turn / Burn and 2 Catch / Release to give my deck some damage and crowd control while retaining high converted mana costs to pump into my Blast of Genius.
From my experience, games tend to end in a burning fury of massive damage. For example: Dual Casting Blast of Genius and a Guttersnipe or two on the field easily totaling some 15+ damage usually.
Feedback:
Don't worry, I notice I don't have the dual/shock lands but I'm keeping an eye out for them. I haven't actually had too many problems with mana though. That being said, I'm especially interested in if you think my mana ratio is adequate or needs improvement? Should I consider the Izzet Guildgates (despite being somewhat morally opposed to them) since my deck doesn't tend to REALLY get going too quickly anyway (turn 6 or so with the exception of a few damage pings here and there)?
Oh and I'm also trying to get another Ral Zarek, Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius, and Melek, Izzet Paragon. But the hunt continues!
Anyway, I'm absolutely loving this deck and Izzet (much more than I thought I would at least) and would appreciate any and all feedback.
