Yeah, spotlight definitely doesn't affect indestructible. :/

Maybe I'll look into it. Not sure. I'll test it out and see how it goes!

Yeah. I run one SB for that exact reason. Hex proof can be a problem. That plus it's sac ability allows me to push through in 1 turn and blast for end game. My preference would be to counter any God that comes down the pipe. Save Hero's Downfall for any Planeswalkers. But we all know there is always a margin of error when playing. Nothing is guaranteed game to game.

...Why is Mirko relevant?

So what about Nighthowler ? Isnt like a Wight of Precinct Six in 1v1? I mean given you dont have lots of creatures, its mostly your opponent's that counts.

Just curious, why is Thoughtseize in side and not main?

Wight of Precinct Six is only your opponents, Nighthowler is both. Nighthowler can bestow on Omenspeaker , making her a tank for defense that the opponent will probably try and kill off, which just makes Nighthowler a creature, not leaving you high and dry. Nighthowler can sit and wait, whereas the Wight needs cards in the opponents graveyard. No early mill, have to count on counters (I have a lot of them) and destruction (I have a lot of them), not to mention with 4 Omenspeaker s there will be one in the graveyard probably by the time you bestow. In all honesty, Wight sucks.

@ Lord007, it would be mainboarded, but the fact remains that Thoughtseize is still crazy expensive, I'm waiting until it goes down. Additionally, life loss REALLY hurts in this deck, because I'm gonna get hit at some point. I need to stay alive until I can start doing serious damage turn 5, and by then I've probably already taken 12-14 points of damage when facing top 4 decks. I need that extra bit to give me time to mill them out or make them really, really scared of the Aberration.

One card that may help with the life problem is Crypt Incursion . Since you have all the kill spells and counters the opponent's graveyard is going to be littered with creatures, and will gain a ton of life. The card hampers Nighthowler however, so maybe save Crypt Incursion as a last resort.

Oh sorry, I didn't see it in your SB. -My mistake. :P

Yep! Against creature heavy decks. And by the time it's good to use it, I'll probably have enough nighthowlers/omenspeakers in the graveyard to make it worth it anyway. :P

Traumatize instead of Mind Grind ?

mmcfarlin says... #13

Traumatize is only good early game, but that is when the deck is still really trying to stabilize the board, whereas Mind Grind works as a win con for the end of the game. At 5 mana, either Consuming Aberration or Jace, Memory Adept are better plays.

In my games, Traumatize has been performing better than Mind Grind as if it hits the board early at 5 Mana, it really cut down the milling you have to do with Consuming Aberration or Jace, Memory Adept .

As for end-game, when opponent is at 30 cards or below, it still cuts for a nice 15 cards with 5 mana - and if you have Jace or Aberration out already, it's a walk in the park to cut the rest of the way.

That been said, I only started playing my mill deck circa 1 month ago: Metamorphosis - Ugly Control to Beautiful Mill

But I hear you, Mind Grind is better when the opponent is nearing 20-10 cards left in the deck.

I'll try out mainboarding Traumatize and see how it fares. I've been going back and forth between the two for a while. Thanks!

Have you tried Frostburn Weird instead of Omenspeaker ? I'm torn on what I will be using in my 2-slot... Part of me just wants to go Tavern Swindler just for fun.

I play a mill deck as well I find that Breaking / Entering works well also Traumatize and Jace's Phantasm can really help 5/5 flying for 1 mana is excellent. Also look for more mill creatures to add so you have blockers so you need less control giving you space for mill spells granted this could be a bad idea speaking I almost always play against G/W deck that is made from intro decks (aka not very good) but also can get annoying with pacifism and banisher priests, also Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker can really hurt opponents.

also another card to add that helps with not being overrun is No Mercy

durzostarfire, Jace's Phantasm went out a while ago. Control is the only way to go now in my meta, I don't know about yours. A mill deck cannot stand up against what's out there, you have to focus on almost full control with some crazy mill late game when the opponent has all their threats controlled.
