You should toss in Beastmaster Ascension, that way your dudes will get all beefy before you sac and wipe out the table.

I feel like Tamiyo's Journal is like Ring of Three Wishes but slower.
March 29, 2016 6:46 p.m.
I disagree. Although It takes longer to activate, I feel there's no limit to the amount of times you can tutor. Also, you could sac the clues for card advantage instead, if you need it. It seems pretty good to me!

Investigate is definitely good but I geek like there is better card draw and better tutors available for this format in your colors.

Butcher of Malakir and Swiftfoot Boots came in! What should I take out?

Take out Quicksilver Amulet it's too expensive for a budget deck. Also take out Golgari Keyrune. When you play green, ramp like Sylvan Scrying and Explosive Vegetation should be in the deck instead of mana rocks. I would take out Golgari Signet too.

Squirrel_of_War, Cost is no issue with Quicksilver Amulet. I already own it, so minus well use it here. As for removing the mama rocks, they seem to add alot of boost to the deck, and work well late game (plus I have Sol Ring on its way anyways, so I'll add that in as well.)

Well Sol Ring is a must but I'd rather have additional mana than a bunch of rocks that always get blown up. I thought you were trying to stay under a certain budget with this deck?
April 1, 2016 12:31 p.m.
I am, but I'm mainly using a pile of junk rares on the side (including Quicksilver Amulet, which I recently discovered was worth about $10.)

Briarpack Alpha- Is the flash and +0/+3 actually worth it?
No, I'd remove this.
Dying Wish - Jarad has to be big for this to matter, is it worth the risk?
I think you can find something better for this slot.
Giant Growth - Is +3/+3 for worth it?
No, remove it.
Grey Merchant of Asphodel - Do I have enough black devotion to make him viable?
I personally wouldn't run him unless you are running 75% black cards.
Mask of Avacyn - I have Swiftfoot Boots now?
Run both to protect Jarad since he is your main wincon (or at least he should be)
Paragon of Eternal Wilds/Paragon of Open Graves - +1/+1 buffers seem bad with more than one color, and their mana abilities are lackluster?
I'd drop both of these and add in Creakwood Liege if you can fit him into the budget
Unhallowed Pact - There might be better options coming in?
I like this card, Shade's Form is also good. Maybe run both.
Removed
Enlarge - The fact that the creature must be blocked is an obvious downside.
Ordeal of Erebos/Ordeal of Nylea - I don't attack enough to make them work.
Rescue from the Underworld - There are better options.
Spiteful Returned - Definitely better options.
Tormented Hero - Not enough spells to trigger heroic.
Tower Defense - Due to the fact that I always have untapped creatures, this is just a dead card.
Ulamog's Crusher - an 8/8 for 8 that's dependant on Quicksilver Amulet, and attacks each combat. Waaaay off theme and too much of a risk.
Changes
+1 Tainted Wood, -1 Haunted Fengraf - Fengalf proves to be really lackluster with the other new things I'm bringing in, so a dual land can take it's place.
Run as many duals as you can within your budget price. Woodland Cemetery, Hissing Quagmire, Temple of Malady, and Llanowar Wastes are the cheaper ones that are really good.
+1 Varolz, the Scar-Striped, -1 Deadbridge Goliath - Varolz has built in scavenge- for every creature.

I still think Jarad decks need to run Xathrid Demon. he is too good. He does Jarads job for him without having to pay mana.
May 16, 2016 5:36 p.m.
Jarad also works great with Mesmeric Orb. Fills everyone's yards which allows for reanimating bombs. That is if you are going reanimator/dredge which I recommend. That way Lord of Extinction easily gets out of hand.
I'm not seeing Kokusho, the Evening Star or Mossbridge Troll either. They both work great with Jarad.

Squirrel_of_War, have you ever considered Phytotitan for your deck? A 7/2 with built in recursion is really good?

I have and I think he is good but I am looking for creatures that kill everyone at the same time. My reasoning is if you are sitting there hitting the whole table for 7 each turn they are all just going to get pissed and wipe you out as a team. I prefer to play the politics game to my advantage then nuke the table all at once.
May 18, 2016 5:39 p.m.
Ah, I can agree with you there. But late game, he's a bombshell.

Below are the cards I think you should remove from your 'keep' list and what I would replace them with.
- 1x Archetype of Finality - Stinkweed Imp or Temur Sabertooth
- 1x Commander's Sphere - Kodama's Reach
- 1x Dark Petition - something that lets you control what you discard like Phantasmagoria
- 1x Elvish Mystic - Cultivate
- 1x Frontier Guide - Far Wanderings
- 1x Golgari Keyrune - Worn Powerstone
- 1x Golgari Signet - it could stay but this wouls be a flex spot if you found something better
- 1x Gravetiller Wurm - flex spot maybe like Golgari Thug or something
- 1x Grim Return - Beacon of Unrest
- 1x It That Betrays - flex, this probably never gets cast because of the high CMC
- 1x Llanowar Elves - Rites of Spring
- 1x Nantuko Husk - something that gets big like Mossbridge Troll
- 1x Necromantic Summons - Necromancy
- 1x Peregrination - Explosive Vegetation
- 1x Quest for the Gravelord - Reanimate
- 1x Retribution of the Ancients - put a sweeper in like Life's Finale, Black Sun's Zenith, Deadly Tempest, Necromantic Selection, or of course Damnation
- 1x Rise from the Grave - Animate Dead
- 1x Ruinous Path - Hero's Downfall is better because it's an instant.1x Solidarity of Heroes - toss in another super fatty like Lord of Extinction or Splinterfright
- 1x Tamiyo's Journal - flex spot
These changes should make you a bit more consistent and ramp out a lot faster.

Below are the cards in your 'remove' list that I don't think you need to remove.
- Butcher of Malakir
- Diabolic Revelation
- Diabolic Tutor
- Mask of Avacyn

If your looking for pump i think there are better options than giant growth. Vines of Vastwood gives the option for hexproof and +4/+4. Or if your going for commander damage Invigorate is great. They gain 3 life but that means nothing if you are trying to get only to 21 damage with an awesome buff of +4/+4 for free! Mutagenic Growth pumps small but also can be free with a casting cost of
July 26, 2016 4:56 p.m.
Thanks for the suggestions and +1, El-Jefe! I actually just bought into some Mutagenic Growths, so I could put one in! I also forgot the 21 Commander Damage rule, so that will actually help my case, big time! I would have to see if I have an Invigorate to experiment with, and I may have to pick up a Vines of Vastwood next time I see one!

Honestly those are all good. The only one I'm not a fan of is Tamiyo's Journal. I would say add any of them that cost under $1 so you can keep the deck price down.
