Jarad Flings Dead Things Competitive

Commander / EDH*

This is my take on a competitive Jarad list. It's a fairly glass-cannon combo deck that can often win on turn 5. There are minor amounts of disruption (just enough to not die) as well as a couple cards in here (Ob Nixilis, Unshackled and Leyline of the Void) that are specifically to deal with my combo-heavy meta. In a more unknown or aggressive meta there would probably be a lot more removal in this deck, but this is the list I run with my usual playgroup.

Combos:

Jarad + Phyrexian Devourer: Really simple 2-card combo. Just need 9 mana to play the Devourer and sac it in the same turn.

Mikaeus + Triskelion: Infinite damage. A bit harder to pull off because it requires 2 creatures instead of just Jarad + Devourer, but certainly not too difficult at all, especially with things like Tooth and Nail to just dump them into play from your library.

Necrotic Ooze (+ Triskelion and Phyrexian Devourer in Graveyard): Devourer was oracled to say "X +1/+1 counters" instead of "+X/+X", so Necrotic Ooze can mill your whole library with Devourer's ability and then ping people to death with Triskelion's. This is the way the deck wins most often. Now let's talk about how to get this combo.

Buried Alive + Reanimation effect: Turn 4 win. Turn 3 if you dropped sol ring on turn 1. This is the god-hand. Buried Alive hits Necrotic Ooze, Triskelion, and Phyrexian Devourer. Reanimate the Ooze, win the game.

Survival of the Fittest + Creature in hand: If you have enough mana, just dump Triskelion and Devourer in the yard to grab Necrotic Ooze end of turn, then untap and play him to win.

Jarad + Lord of Extinction + Time: Game drags on long enough and Lord of Extinction might be enough to one-shot the table.

Other Shenanigans:

Necropotence + Necromancy: Necropotence exiling the cards you discard is a triggered ability which can be responded to by playing Necromancy at instant speed. This allows you to discard the Necrotic Ooze combo and win on your own discard phase.

Necropotence + Removal: You can destroy your own Necropotence at the end of the turn (before discard) so that the discarded cards are not exiled.

Ob Nixilis Reignited + Necropotence: Ob Nixilis' ultimate on an opponent will kill them if you then draw enough cards with Necropotence. They die on your end step. I have never pulled this off and never expect to.
