History:

This is my pride and joy deck. It started off as Skullbriar, the Walking Grave for a little over a year. At first I built it voltron with swords and counters for the Briar. While fun, I noticed that I could usually only kill a person or two before I myself lost. As I got more and more "good-stuff" cards for the deck, I realized that I didn't even need Skullbriar in some games. So I made the switch to Jarad and haven't looked back. I'm a combo player at heart so switching styles was easy. The deck doesn't always need Jarad but if I want to I can utilize his ability. With the addition of Hermit Druid I can say that this is my most combo oriented build.

There are over a dozen ways to combo with the deck or we can simply find Mike and Trike. The greatest strength that this deck has is its inevitability. It will get there. We can play through hate and have plenty of staying power for the late game, even if the early combo doesn't go through.

Combos:

We can potentially combo on turn two with Black source into Sol Ring into Black source Buried Alive to grab Triskelion, Phyrexian Devourer, Necrotic Ooze and cast Reanimate on the ooze to give it both activated abilitys of the creatures in the graveyard and ping everyone to death with the total cmc of your deck. In fact if we find buried alive with a reanimation spell in hand at almost any point in the game, we are probably going to win very shortly.

If the NOoze combo gets disrupted, have no fear! We can still play the classic Mikaeus, the Unhallowed and Triskelion. We can even find them off of the one card combo piece Tooth and Nail!

We can find Woodfall Primus ( maybe from Pattern of Rebirth), mike, and a sac outlet to destroy any non creature permanent at instant speed. In fact, if the sac outlet is Greater Good we can draw our deck! and once we do that we can find Phyrexian Alter to make infinite mana. Hey look! We are playing Omniscience + Enter the Infinite!

These are just a few ways to win with the deck but there are much more, from simple attacks all the way to just casting a late game Lord of Extinction and flinging him with Jarad.

Play Style:

We play like a traditional grindy rock-style deck with plenty of removal and efficient, recursive creatures. This deck can be played at almost any speed and is very versatile into converting from the combo deck to the control deck with its multitude of wipes and spot removal. We use life total as a resource but we need to be careful not to over extend into some damage based decks. We also need to not over extend into the graveyard. The deck has some very non-linear plays and piloting it against hate can be difficult.

Weaknesses:

We can manage some hate but we can't manage all the hate. If our opponents are packing serious grave hate then we unfortunately have to play a much much slower and more fair game which gives our faster opponents time to go off. The key to winning these matches is to go under the radar and play into our yard just enough to get some hate and go off at the right time. Another weakness seems to be spell-slinger/ storm decks that use tons of rituals and little board presence because we do not have a lot of ways to interact with them. The key is to either go off faster or hate on key cards just enough to slow them down.

My Meta:

So my "meta" is actually quite large consisting of probably over 30 decks because in my playgroup of 4 we have about 15 tuned decks between us. I also play in various leagues in two different LGS. This is why you will notice not a lot of specific hate cards and more generic "good stuff" cards. I will tell you specifically about my meta.

I am the guy that started the arms race. I am the guy that usually introduces different archetypes such as voltron, storm, MLD, reanimator, creature based combo, artifact based combo and possibly others because with my six different decks I try to have a huge range of play styles and strategies.

My meta consists of Tasigur, the Golden Fang infinite combo/control that plays a controlling game until it can assemble infinite mana and win on the spot. Dragonlord Ojutai Voltron/control/stax that also plays a control game until it can stick dragonlord and then will try to Armageddon or Cataclysm and win through card advantage before we can recover. I also face Karador, Ghost Chieftain boonweaver combo, and Oloro, Ageless Ascetic that tries to go for an early Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur or Iona, Shield of Emeria (or both) backed by counter magic.

Those are probably the most "competitive" of my playgroup but I've also faced some stiff competition at my LGS (which ironically is the one that Sheldon menery calls his as well) such as Damia hard control/ arcum dagsson/ jhoria/ Rhys tokens and much more.

As you can see I actually play against a ton of different types of deck archetypes and I have even brought my deck to a few scg pods where I probably faced The most intense competition.

I've had the Jarad version for about a 3 years now and most of the cards are foil, despite changing a bunch.

Tell me what you think of the deck and any improvements that I could make. I am happy to answer any questions about card choices. Thanks for reading!

Updates Add

I haven't updated on here in quite a while. It's OK because I have been updating the deck irl. I have the mana base complete except for an alpha/beta/fbb bayou. I now have judge promo survival and demonic tutor. I have made a few meta changes.

Vorinclex is out because with only 31 land he never gave me the boost I needed and was more of a win more card. Massacre wurm is back because it's a pet card and there are a bunch of token decks back in my meta.

Scooze is out because not much graveyard decks in my meta and he was very mana intensive or not impactful enough. Walking ballista is triskellion #2 that needs a sac outlet for mikaeus or does the same job with Necrotic ooze. Also can be played for zero as a free "discard" unlike trike.
