Living Death . That's what I suggest. Awesome deck though. +1.

That is an interesting suggestion. I'm unsure about how much this deck needs it since in the games where I played this deck (only 3 so far) my stuff didn't stay in the grave for long, thanks to persist, immortal and Gleancrawler .

I'll keep the suggestion unchecked for now so that I can test it further and within a few more games make a better decision.

Thanks. :)

I like it but that's one very expensive card. I own no dual lands. :(

Wow you have a lot of creatures. Do you have enough mana to cast them all? I'd throw in some more ramp and take out a few creatures. Harrow and Skyshroud Claim are nice because they leave you with untapped lands.

I haven't had, so far, problems with mana being quite able to cast stuff rather quickly. As for the high creature count, I love them all. They all serve their purposes, instead of using enchantments or specific spells. That way I get the sae effect and still get something to sac to Jarad.

Anyway, I might add Skyshroud Claim as it does fasten the game a bit. I'm unsure about Harrow though since I dislike destroying my mana base. As a matter of fact Ill remove Primordial Hydra ...

Thanks for looking at the deck, btw.

And please consider the fact that some of my creatures already accelerate my mana base: Yavimaya Elder and Solemn Simulacrum are perfect for that.

Filth in the graveyard with an active Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth makes all your creatures unblockable.

Genesis is a great way to recur creatures back to your hand.

Lord of Extinction is the King of Graveyard-based Fatties.

Birthing Pod is a great creature tutor. Nothing beats sacrificing Mindslicer to it to get Lord of Extinction on the field, then sacrificing Lord to Jarad to instantly kill the table without any way for your opponents to stop you. True story.

Chromatic Lantern is the ultimate colour-fixer.

Increasing Ambition is a great tutor that doesn't mind if it gets milled.

Jarad's Orders is a 2-for-1 creature tutor that offers an effective way to get an Incarnation in the graveyard.

Maybeboard:

Deadbridge Chant : An excellent way to produce extra value every turn.

Mindslicer : Great creature, especially in the aforementioned situation.

Overgrown Tomb : One of the best Dual lands.

Weird Harvest . Giving your opponents too much resouces at once can be disastrous, especially with all of the powerful creatures that are available.

Thanks NensouHiebara. That is some good stuff to consider.

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is great, I know. I might need to check because I might not have any copy available though. More so with Filth , no doubt. But my main idea isn't to win the game through combat. I'll keep the combo out of the deck for now.

Genesis is fun, albeit expensive. If I get a copy (and I'd love to) I'll swap out Paleoloth for this.

Lord of Extinction is cool but way too expensive for me. I'm using other options that do the same (Mortivore , Lhurgoyf , Nighthowler and Bonehoard ). I'll pass it.

Birthing Pod is too expensive, I fear.

Chromatic Lantern is cool. Need to get one though. But yes, it does have a place in this deck.

Increasing Ambition might see play here, yes. More on this further down.

Jarad's Orders is mandatory, yes. I don't have it though so I'll have to buy it.

So, I added the stuff that I do want to add (but don't own) to my Maybeboard:

1 Genesis

1 Chromatic Lantern

1 Jarad's Orders

I'm not adding Increasing Ambition because I already own it. :)

Regarding the other 4 cards:

Deadbridge Chant is great. I didn't know that card until recently and this deck does want it a lot.

Overgrown Tomb is a land I need to buy. Being a dual land makes it mandatory. I'd even consider Twilight Mire if only it wasn't that expensive!

Regarding your opinion on Mindslicer + Lord of Extinction , I get the same effect with the Goyf variants I already have. That's one thing I had in mind. The other thing was Mindslicer after Weird Harvest . First I let them fill their hand with the Harvest and then force them to discard it right after. Evil?

Further considerations:Today I tested the deck again. It was a bit slow. I came to the conclusion that I need colored mana, faster! Chromatic Lantern is a good option, of course. Might not be enough though. I'm considering Darksteel Ingot for its indestructibility or Spectral Searchlight for politics.

Aside from mana, I also noticed that more tutoring might be in order. Increasing Ambition sounds great. But so does Diabolic Revelation . I might prefer Ambition though due to flashback. That and Weird Harvest .

BTW, I might also add Quirion Elves instead of some mana rock...

These all very good general purpose cards i could see working here, especially garruk. All of his abilities are relevant to your deck. I think you're having mana problems, by the way, because your mana curve is a bit skewed towards the higher cost cards. I also prefer Diabolic Tutor to Increasing Ambition usually. 5 for a tutor is kind of a lot. At least Rune-scarred has that body to back it up. (obviously Demonic Tutor if you got $15 laying around too).

Buried Alive could be a slow-working tutor for you with all your graveyard recursion.

Quirion Elves isn't really quite as good as Sylvan Caryatid , but I'd sooner run Chromatic Lantern over either. I also i think you ought to replace Darksteel Ingot with Golgari Keyrune . It's not indestructible, but it sure has more use. If they're blowing removal on your mana rocks, that leaves your more powerful stuff open anyways.

Anyway, I do like the look of the deck. It looks fun to play, and explosive once you get everything set up.

(seriously tho go add Garruk, he's a beast)

Some of your suggestions are a bit expensive for me right now. Deathrite Shaman , Demonic Tutor and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx . Usually I don't spend that much on singles.

The thing with Increasing Ambition is that it tutors for 3 cards whereas Diabolic Tutor only tutors 1. I'll give Ambition a try.

Phyrexian Arena is nice and all but I prefer Graveborn Muse . It can give me more cards a turn and if I'm hurting too much I just blow it through Jarad. In a different deck I'd favor the Arena any day, though.

Decree of Pain ... That is one hell of a card, no doubt. Will have to consider it.

Chromatic Lantern is on the "to buy" list.

Golgari Keyrune is in! I hadn't thought of it and I do prefer it over Darksteel Ingot . If nothing else, I can turn it into a creature and swing.

Garruk Wildspeaker can be added too. It does smooth out the deck...

Now I need to figure out what to remove. :)

Oh! And I forgot about Buried Alive ... I'm unsure about that one though. I think I prefer to keep it out for now.

No Lord of Extinction?

Kill whole table with one Jarad activation?

No?

Please?

August 5, 2014 4:06 a.m.

DarkRequiem says... #16

No for the sole reason that I don't own one and its more expensive than most cards that I usually buy.

Still, the goyf's on the deck do that too.

True. Mortivore is the bees knees

Right now I'm trying to squeeze in Quicksilver Amulet but don't know what to remove.

Ideas on how to improve the deck are welcome.

Trying to turn this deck a bit more competitive. Made major updates to the list but I'm still trying to squeeze in a few cards (Maybeboard). Unsure if there's anything that could be cut for them, though.

Ideas on how to improve the deck are always nice, of course.

No Mercy for defense . Lord of Extinction to create a giant.

January 24, 2016 12:51 p.m.

DarkRequiem says... #21

I got none of those available and they cost a bit too much for what I'm usually comfortable to pay for a card. That's the sole reason I'm not playing them.

Instead of using Lord of Extinction I'm playing with Nighthowler and Bonehoard instead. Was running Mortivore and Lhurgoyf previously but had to remove them for something else. Would still love to add them back but I can't come to grips with what to remove. As a matter of fact, right now I'm trying to squeeze in Mesmeric Orb...
