How about Generator Servant? He allows you to cast Kaalia T3 AND gives her haste. Also, I'd suggest Ring of Valkas. It makes your Kaalia (or another red creature) bigger and gives haste for 1mana. Another nice and new enchantment is Dragon Tempest. Both haste for Kaalia and burn from your Dragons. Overseer of the Damned is also not bad imo.

You can check my deck Kaalia-EDH if you want to and give advice yourself.

Emeria Shepherd is interesting and could potentially replace Adarkar Valkyrie. Ob Nixilis, Unshackled seems like a sideboard card that you can add in if you notice one of your opponents has a deck that relies more heavily on searching for cards. Ob probably won't survive very long on the field since he's a nuisance to every other player. Basically, I'm not sure the potential for Ob's 10 damage hit is worth space in the deck since opponents will have their guns immediately pointed at him or will just wait to draw an answer. I previously had Thundermaw Hellkite in the deck, but found that he was basically just there to beat face. Since I tend to play with the same crowd, it can get harder and harder to win through brute force so I've now turned towards combo win conditions. If you don't want to go that route, though, thundermaw is great at dealing damage. Kolaghan's Command's only 2 useful modes for me would the 1st and 3rd ones. I have plenty of other more efficient ways of grabbing creatures from my graveyard and I currently don't want to waste a whole slot on an artifact destruction card otherwise I would have included Wear / Tear. Crackling Doom could be useful against voltron decks, but again that means it's more of a situational card and not something I'd want to always have in the mainboard. Come to think of it, I should really post my actual sideboard... Anyways, thanks for the suggestions! Emeria Shepherd is a really good idea.

Emeria Shepherd does look like a good idea. The hardest thing about good suggestions is figuring out what to take out for it.

How is this deck in 1v1 format? Better in multiplayer or 1v1?..it seems very nice!

TheMaggotPrince I mainly play in multilayer matchups. It should do fine in 1v1, though, but I'd suggest adding more mana rocks, draw power, and ways to get Kaalia out and attacking faster. For 1v1 I almost always win through the Master of Cruelties combo since it only takes 1 other card besides Kaalia. I know that against a friend's aggressive Zur deck, whoever goes first or has the faster ramp tends to win. To me, it's all about putting the pressure on as fast as possible and never letting up until you win in a Kaalia style 1v1. You're hardest matchup would likely be other aggro decks that have the potential to outpace you, but other than that you'd be fairly set in more drawn out games.

The hardest one for me thus far to beat has been Brago, he just shuts me down before i can even bash at most times

Torpor Orb in the sideboard maybe? That should stop a lot of flickering shenanigans

Nerezzar says... #11

Kaalia usually uses a lot of ETB herself so Torpor Orb might be not that awesome.

Nerezzar A lot of the combos I have definitely do, but that suggestion was more for just TheMaggotPrince since he is having a tough time against a Brago player. With Brago's flickering, I suspected that the deck revolved mostly around ETB triggers so Torpor Orb would act like a stax card. It would hurt him, but it would hurt his opponent more.

True..i might play test it and see how it plays out..i have only beaten him twice out of the 6 times we have clashed in tournaments lol! I would come in first if not for him

So a lot of people dont enjoy Hellcarver demon...but i have found him to be a game ender at times..very fun to play too lol!

TheMaggotPrince I would definitely NOT suggest Hellcarver Demon. It becomes a one-sided board wipe of yourself and you lose your hand in exchange for 6 top deck cards that have no guarantee of being meaningful. Very risky move that probably has a much higher likelihood of screwing yourself over than finding a combo win. But if he's fun for you and seems to work, go for it I guess lol. EDH is about having fun after all!

Aurelia, the Warleader instead of Hellkite Charger perhaps? Same Converted Mana Cost, slightly weaker, but she has Vigilance on top of Flying & Haste, and her ability is essentially the same, but for free, and I'd be willing to go as far as to say it's a direct upgrade as it untaps "All creatures you control" rather than "all creatures that attacked".

She's an angel too, so she's also affected by Kaalia of the Vast's ability as well.

@ Thundagawd I believe he has Hellkite Charger in to combo with Sword of Feast and Famine. If the opponent can't block and he has the available mana he wins.

Magikpanda91 Yep, you're right! Additionally, there is a very important distinction between Hellkite Charger and Aurelia, the Warleader- Aurelia's trigger only happens after the first combat. Hellkite can create additional combats infinitely if you have a way to generate infinite mana or untap 7 lands. Basically, think Aggravated Assault but on a creature and a little more expensive. Don't get me wrong, Aurelia is a cool creature to have in a beat down Kaalia style deck. In fact, I used to include her before switching over to combo. It's just that when I'm looking for a way to combo off and go for the win, she plays no part and would basically be a dead draw. This version of Kaalia clearly isn't in line with the vast majority of other Kaalia decks that you're used to seeing, but I urge you to give it a shot. I've found much better success in outright winning through the combos included within here than through brute force big creature swings. Plus it can sometimes catch people off guard when they see the Kaalia player not caring about actually casting Kaalia all too often. Keep in mind that I use this in multiplayer commander where there's usually 3-5 person groups (usually 4) and it's incredibly difficult to win through creature damage or be fast enough as a voltron commander to kill everyone else before someone finds an answer. In 1v1, you probably want to add in a lot of mana ramp, focus mainly on the master of Cruelties combo and take out most of the others, and make it more of a big creature deck

Ah, I hadn't realized you could go infinite with Hellkite Charger + Sword of Feast and Famine . Makes sense now!

Strionic Resonator so you can copy Kaalia's ability?

December 20, 2015 1:53 a.m.

AngryChewie says... #21

mw2noobbuster I actually had that in my old Kaalia deck when it centered more on getting big creatures out fast to swing with. Since this is combo oriented, I rarely need or use Kaalia. Thanks for the suggestion, though!

Tolluf Thanks! I think it is too. Definitely like it more than the linear big creature style of Kaalia decks :)

Most importantly, you need more lands, including High Market.

January 5, 2016 2:59 a.m.

AngryChewie says... #25

Zrobass I've seen High Market before, but what is its usefulness exactly? I have to tap it so I'd only be able to sac 1 creature per turn. The only use I see right now for the card is for dodging a targeted exile/gain control effect on an important combo piece.
