And Aggressive Mining isn't? Just saying; and to add to that you only have 17 lands.

Aggressive mining is worth it all the way, but you have convinced me to at least run 2 of and try it out. The double white might be iffy, but I will test it.

The double white will be the hardest part of it, but I agree that it is much too expensive for your deck. We can test it at our next game night though

I didnt realize how many auras you have... thatll be insane

February 11, 2015 8:43 p.m.

Just played with eidolon in it and the game was over before it could be played.

Yeah Eidolon was to late game for this so it has been taken out for a couple more cards to activate heroic.

Why not mentor instead of hoplite and some gods willing in the list.

February 16, 2015 4:35 p.m.

Never mind on gods but why not mentor

i test played this deck for 10 minutes and i did that because it took me 10 minutes to get a keepable 7. the mulligans in this deck are terrible. good idea but definitely needs some tinkering

@Noahpmtg what type of hand are you looking for? You do know that the goal is t4 kill not t3 kill right? I have this exact deck in real life and runs better than any other I have seen play. This has to be the most consistent deck that I have ever played, it gets the job done t4-t5 almost every time unless they manage to slow me down enough, which is unlikely thanks to the card advantage I have. Seriously though mate what were you trying to mulligan to?

@ColdHeartedSith The reason I don't play Monastery Mentor is that it is a 3 drop, I don't want to run something that I might not be able to play, I have plenty of lands I imagine, but the deck won't run 3 lands every time, and since I have seen peak eruption in play they might destroy one of my lands before I could play it. Also same reason I chose not to play Eidolon of Countless Battles because by the time it got out there I am almost finished mopping anyway.

you play 12 creautres and on average that means 1 creature in your stating hand and with a format that makes tokens or with early removal this deck just doesnt seem to get the job done at all

you also have only 1 and a half lands in your hand statistically and it could be off color with the creature you drew this decks hands seem to make it unplayable

February 17, 2015 7:30 p.m.

You only need two lands in the first ten cards to finish someone off with this deck. I can kill between turn 3-5 consistently and its not even my deck. One creature is enough for a starting hand, with hammerhand and the capacity to go wide the damage will get through the first few turns. Plus with the cantrip and low mana cost, its easy to mulligan several times and still be playable. Most removal is two or three mana and many players would rather throw down a creature than remove a 1/1 or so. Add to that he has God's Willing, then removal is less useful.

what he said. Also including having ajani's pressence sideboard. If you didt notice I have a lot of card advantage in this deck, a ton of scry and draw cards, I will more than likely be able to draw in to a 2nd creature by turn 3 easily. You are looking at the deck the wrong way, you see the creatures and the lands and you just assume that it won't work, you have to understand that the creatures are just a tool for me to fuel to get the job done. Also I will always more than likely draw into a second land on turn 2 or 3 if I didn't start with two, plus there have been instances when playing this deck that I have had maybe too much land, which is why I run aggressive mining sideboard. You have to look at this deck as looking at a factory, everything in there is to get the job done as efficiently as possible. Everything works with everything else to produce the end result, in this case me winning the game.

Wow. Can't believe I won turn 3 on the playtest.

Turn 1: Mountain, Swiftspear, swing. Opponent down to 19

Turn 2: Mountain, 2 Titan's Strength, 2 prowess triggers (9damage this turn, opponent down to 10

Turn 3: Plains, Favored Hoplite, Hammerhand on Hoplite, heroic triggers and prowess triggers, Titan's Strength on Hoplite (2 heroic and prowess triggers resulting in a 3/4 Swiftspear and a 7/6 Hoplite. Lethal damage.

Insane draws happened and the other deck's blocker was targeted by Hammerhand. This is amazing. +1 from me.

I like the spells, but I feel like this deck has to mulligan a lot with only 12 creatures.

February 25, 2015 7:48 p.m.

You can afford to mulligan down to four or five with this deck though. Mulligans are a problem only if the mana cost is higher than 1 or 0 and there aren't any cantrip cards.

No one understands what sligh is anymore. It is NOT red deck wins whcih is what most "sligh" decks are. Sligh decks are a deck with about the best curve in aggro. 8-12 1 drops 6-8 2 drops 4-6 3 drops and 1-3 4 drops. 2 x cost spells, 4-8 burn spells, and some other junk on a good curve that is good. Also, my version of this deck is here at R/W Heroic with consistent turn 4 wins.
