Satyr Firedancer doesn't do much for me against aggro, surprisingly. I would prefer to have Anger of the Gods and not worry about it destroying all of my creatures, which is why the Satyr gets sided out.

What do you guys think of Pyromancer's Gauntlet ? I've found myself playing the deck in a control fashion, not allowing the other player to keep any creatures around until I play the Gauntlet. Then I play two burn spells a turn (thanks to Chandra, Pyromaster ) with enhanced damage until the opponent is dead. Should I replace Pyromancer's Gauntlet with a more aggressive 5-drop, like Stormbreath Dragon ?

If I add 3x Stormbreath Dragon in place of 3x Pyromancer's Gauntlet then I will replace 2x Fated Conflagration , 2x Chandra, Pyromaster , and 3x Flames of the Firebrand with 4x Chandra's Phoenix and 3x Flame-Wreathed Phoenix .

Is this a good idea? It will take the deck into a far more aggressive direction, which is where red should be in my opinion.

Honestly, I think it depends on what deck you're playing against. If you're against control, a storm breath is a bit more intimidating and more likely to get countered than a gauntlet. And honestly, I kind of like what you have going on here. It's a bit different than some mono reds, but still functional.

I'd pass on Flame-Wreathed Phoenix , but maybe side in Chandra's Phoenix since she's really easy to get back out on the field. But still, the phoenix will probably get exiled when possible. But if not, still some added defense if the shoe fits.

If you drop Fated Conflagration , what other plans to you have to deal with a planeswalker?

Well every single burn spell in the deck also deals with planes walkers :P

Yeah Lightning Strike , Magma Jet , and Shock can all deal with Planeswalkers. I am not too worried there. I like Fated Conflagration , but it seems to be too situational for me.

Chandra's Phoenix is obviously better than Flame-Wreathed Phoenix , but keeping both in the sideboard will allow me to completely change my deck from burn to aggro-esque for the second game. I'm a huge fan of transformational sideboarding in decks like this, as it can really take the other player by surprise.

Very nice job here. +1 Only burn deck I have played in standard that can go the distance. I usually play Orzhov or White with a fair amount of Lifegain and it is easy to stomp Burn decks because whatever they burn I just gain back and when they start top decking and only hitting for 2 or 3 damage per turn it is easy to overpower. I would not even think about taking out Pyromancer's Gauntlet , it is what makes this deck capable of consistently delivering an unmanageable amount of damage mid to late game. Nobody is running any Artifact hate now because most of the nasty Artifacts out are also Enchantments so running Enchantment hate is way more versatile in standard today. You have something unique here so I would not change it to the same old Red Deck crap that everyone else is running. Here is the deck I have been playtesting against yours, let me know what you think. Gatos Blancos | New Take on Mono White

Seems pretty good, but I would main board 3 Fated Conflagration and side 2 Pyromancer's Gauntlet when playing against slower decks, so you don't get beaten down because you have a 5-CMC card in hand as opposed to a burn spell.

Also, I would cut Explosive Impact for pretty much anything else, e.g. a 4th Fated Conflagration , a Volcanic Geyser , or even another Chandra, Pyromaster . And you DEFINATELY want to be running Chandra's Phoenix and sideboard a few Stormbreath Dragon s when playing against white or azorius decks. Otherwise, I like the deck! +1

Two things. Two creatures!?!? Why? Also I just made a commander deck with Narset and learned that expensive spells help.

February 16, 2015 7:42 p.m.

It's a control deck, so the only creatures I need are ones that will win me the game. It doesn't make sense to cast a bunch of creatures only to kill them with End Hostilities.

True also you should add a bunch of expensive spells because of Narsets effect.

Honestly, I would add more Chandra. If your primary win option is burn. I have played similar builds to this. The ability to drop 4-8 damage of Narset is really nice (even if they eat her when she attacks). Chandra's ability works the same (her ultimate). You yank a burn spell and hit the opponent for a ton of damage.

Delve spells are really good here as well. Though most people prefer the draw spells (Dig/Cruise), I can even see consideration for the Temporal thingy that gives another turn. That's a bit combo heavy though. Delve spells give powerful effects for cheat-casting, or hardcasting with a discount.

I like this build tbh. I also play Narset control. Here's my list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/21-04-15-jeskai-control/ +1

Can you help me with my narset control? http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/19-04-15-land-where-were-going-we-dont-need-land/

I could use some help with the sideboard. I'm worried about Abzan Midrange and Esper Dragons. Should I go with a control route (Elspeth, Sun's Champion and End Hostilities) or a more aggressive route (Goblin Rabblemaster and maybe Stoke the Flames)?

I would try running a playset of myth realized because of all the spells you play. Or cut the anticipates or wild slashes for Dragonlord's servant.turn three Thunderbreak turn four ojutai would do wonders for your deck early game.

Cool deck! Check out mine if you want i am pretty succesful with. Leave comments if you have any advice or thoughts.

Temur Dragons

With no swamps to pull, your fancy fetches might as well be basic lands. Add minimum 2 if you are going to run so many things that can fetch swamps. Otherwise cut back. Need at least 1 more of other basic lands too because get one in your opening hand and your fetches are again a useless tax.

November 2, 2015 8:06 p.m.

jch1290: Bloodstained Mire can fetch Smoldering Marsh and Sunken Hollow as they both have the swamp sub-type. Polluted Delta can fetch Sunken Hollow, Smoldering Marsh, and Prairie Stream. Flooded Strand can fetch Prairie Stream and Sunken Hollow... You get the idea. I have plenty of fetchable lands.

Mortem: The deck has been doing well at FNM events, normally going 3-1. It definitely holds its own without Jace, Vryn's Prodigy though it would definitely make the deck better. My deck does very well against Atarka Red and can easily race green ramp decks. Ironically my worst matchup is other Dark Jeskai decks as Crackling Doom is the best way to deal with Dragonlord Ojutai and Thunderbreak Regent.
