you can't run multiple sol rings, even if this is casual, and you don't adhere to a set of rules, don't do that. and if you're looking to build a deck in the area of $800+, just build legacy. It's a fun format, and is around this price range. (not to mention, is an actual format)

ragemaster42, thanks for the advice, and I didn't know about the Sol Ring rule, I'll take the extra one out.
Please check out my budget deck, as that is the one I would likely build, and it would probably be made into Modern if I go competitive. This deck is more of a hypothetical best scenario if I had lots of money, which I do not. The main cause of the high price is the fetchlands in the mana base.
Please continue to give suggestions as they are greatly appreciated

What even is this. If your doing legacy, Brainstorm Preordain and Counterbalance.
If modern take out the Banned cards Dig Through Time and put in Geist of Saint Traft

Thanks for the Card Ideas Ferrari_420. I think I would go legacy with this deck. I am new to magic, so what should I take out for those cards?

You have this marked as modern, when it's a standard deck, with Bolts. DTT is banned in modern, and there are far better card you should be playing in the format.

Please help me out with some of these better cards. This deck definitely needs help. And I put in the update that I needed a replacement for Dig Through Time, so a suggestion there would be great.

So, -2 Jeskai Charm -1 Ojutai's Command +3Geist of Saint Traft and +1 Path to Exile should work out well.

I am trying to model this deck after Jeskai Prowess Unblockable, only with a little more top end power. I need to take out a lot of the current creatures for ones that have prowess, and also add Delver of Secrets Flip, because of all the instants and sorceries I have.
Thanks for the suggestions, and please keep them coming!
Cheers :)

Personally I like Oblivion Ring better than Path to Exile because the wording allows it to effect creatures that are supposed to have protection from it like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. My buddy used to be a judge for tournaments and he taught me that. Good deck though i like it a lot +1

Sorry it took so long for me to take a look. This deck looks awesome. I have often thought of adding Cavern of Souls to my deck because the creatures are all humans/wizards, but because my personal build is more red and white it's tough for me. In your deck it looks great!
There isn't much I can say to change, because the deck looks great as it is. I have only tested Jeskai Ascendancy for a short period of time so I don't have much experience with it, but I found it to be a bit slow for modern in this style of deck. However, if it is working for you, keep it in. I need to test it more to be confidant in my opinion. Mentor also tested as a bit slow for my build. If I had to make a change I would suggest cutting the Ascendancies and Mentor for Boros Charms and an additional Path to Exile for protection, burn, and removal. However, that is from personal preference.
This deck looks really cool and I will definitely test some of these ideas. I absolutely love Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest. He can end games on his own. Awesome deck and +1 for sure.

4 delver in a deck with 15 creatures is a little weird.

Thank you for the suggestions and kind words. They are truly appreciated. Your deck was a huge inspiration for this deck and I am very grateful.

Thank you for the suggestion and the +1.
I don't run Oblivion Ring for a couple of reasons. First of all, it is too slow, in the fact that it costs three mana, and it isn't instant speed. I need to be able to have removal on the drop of a dime, and by turn three, I want to be close to winning the game, not using a whole turn to cast a removal spell. Also, I need instants and sorceries to transform Delver of Secrets Flip. Enchantments don't do that unfortunately.
I really appreciate the help, if you have more suggestions, by all means, post them!

Is it not the case that shu yun is just very mana inefficient. 3 mana to achieve nothing on the turn it's played. Then when he swings he initially does no more than delver. Double strike costs 2. I mean if double strike is adding 5 or 6 damage and you're paying 2 mana then that's no better off than 2 lightning bolts for the turn and given that he can be easily killed it's just.... not great.
I can see how in specific situations he's good but a deck like this doesn't want to be good in specific situations it needs to be consistent. Consistency is not a 3 mana 3/2 that only triggers with extra cards and mana.
But I haven't played tempo in a while.

Thanks for the input. I have been on the fence about Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest for a while. I know he isn't great as a turn 3 drop, but that isn't what he is for. He is a card I only want to see in the later game, therefore he is only a one of. The thing I like is that in the late game he gives us a place to spend our mana to get a useful ability. However there are probably better creatures that could take his place. I have thought of replacing him with several creatures:
- Abbot of Keral Keep
- Snapcaster Mage
- Delver of Secrets Flip
- Jace, Vryn's Prodigy Flip
- Lightning Angel
- Mantis Rider
I have also thought of switching him to the sideboard for one of my more versatile top end cards such as Chandra, Pyromaster or Sword of Fire and Ice.
Your input here would be greatly appreciated, and if you have any other suggestions, please continue to give them!
Cheers :)

If you have the money then snapcaster mage is amazing.

As you can probably notice, I decided to swap out Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest for Jeskai Ascendancy, as it is more synergistic, and provides much needed card advantage. Thanks again for your input. If it wasn't for you I probably never would have taken him out of the mainboard.
If you have any other suggestions, I am open to everything!

Can you please send me the template for the style sheet for this? I got background images fine, but keeping them static and making the boxes semi- transparent is difficult for me. Enjoy the upvote while I'm here :)

If you want tempo, my man, you want Thing in the Ice Flip.
April 27, 2017 4:35 p.m.
I have definitely given Thing in the Ice Flip a lot of thought, and I really want to include it in the main board, but I can't find anything to cut. The problem is that this deck wants to set up on turns 1 and 2 (and sometimes 3) with a few cheap creatures, then absolutely explode on turns 4 and 5 with massive amounts of spells that trigger Prowess and make them evasive in some way. Burning 2 mana and a turn to cast a creature that doesn't do anything right away wastes a little bit more time then we want to in the early game.
On the upside however, Thing in the Ice Flip does clear the way for itself, making for easy damage. I think I will have to do some more testing before I make my final call.
Thanks for the input, and all suggestions are welcome!
Cheers :)

Hey Guys!
I feel like this deck is a little slow, so I am looking into making it more of a tempo control deck. Please post suggestions, I want this deck as good as possible!
Thanks a lot!
