Going to be testing out what to cut for the new card Enthusiastic Mechanaut as having more low mana cost reducers is big for this deck. Currently going to test out cutting Mana Drain as most of the time I don't find myself needing the extra counter, however I will also test it in Cloud Key spot as it will cost 1 mana less but be more color dependent.

In- Mnemonic Sphere Out- Witching Well

I feel this is an easy one to one swap. Where Witching Well has helped in the past scrying away cards we don't want or finding much needed lands or artifacts Mnemonic Sphere will give us an option to draw a card when we need. The big reason for the switch though is Well was mostly run for both the scry alongside the draw 2 it provided for now Mnemonic Sphere will provided a draw instead of scry along with the same draw potential but at a reduced cost of .

Ill actively be looking at this swap in games and potentially finding another slot to place Well back into.

Would you consider Teferi's Ageless Insight as a strict upgrade to Vedalken Archmage, since it's basically just an historic version of it? I've been playing a pretty jank more-like-cheerios version of cEDH Jhoira but I've been trying to get the list less fragile, and I've found it a bit more consistent overall.

I never even thought of running Eluth, I'm definitely stealing that idea!

I was also wondering if Basalt Monolith being in the deck still is a holdover from a basalt rings mana combo or if I'm just missing an interaction it currently could have? Overall, sweet list, love seeing everyone's take on Jhoira lists!

Doomshlang I can see the concept behind Teferi's Ageless Insight however for it to work you have to have Jhoira on the field. Vedalken Archmage works almost as a second Jhoira in the list. As most of our historic spells are Artifacts this allows for Archmage to trigger on most spells we cast.

You're welcome for the Eruth tech. She has been an absolute powerhouse in the list since she has been printed. She is so effective coupled with Jhoira on board that not running Thassa's Oracle was unthinkable.

Basalt Monolith actually has been in the list from the very beginning even without Basalt rings combo; which has actually never been in the list. Monolith is simply in the list because for 3 mana we get 3 mana, and in some instances with cost reducers we get 3 mana for less. Just another efficient artifact in the list until something better comes along.

All in all this list has had many many changes over the years. From Dramatic Scepter lines to only having Aetherflux as a win condition. Slowly over the years the list has become more and more refined with changes becoming more and more difficult to make. I'm sure over the next year though something will come out that is a perfect fit for the list or a strictly better version of something in the list, that's what happened with Witching Well being taken out in favor of Mnemonic Sphere.

Thanks again for checking out the list!

Hi Walben, good to see you're still running Jhoira. I usually only bring it out once a month because of the solitaire playstyle that gets the table in salty cracker mode.

Have you considered the reality chip? I've got mine in the mail ready to try it out.

It seems really clunky with the equip cost but even the ability to check the top card when you need to is nice. After you do reconfigure it to Jhoira it's basically an auto win similar to Eruth.

Jimmyflip thanks for checking out the list again much has changed obviously.

I had considered The Reality Chip at first but then realized it gives basically the same ability as Mystic Forge just without the ability to exile the card if you don't want it and being specific to artifacts. I think if I still had Forge in the list I would be looking to get the Chip in as well. However while I think both are good options if you find yourself whiffing a lot on turns you're trying to win I think that a playstyle that is slightly less risk taking will allow for that to not be an issue. I would recommend to newer players to the list however that want to learn to play the list finding a way to include both options as they will give a bit more consistency for someone who hasnt played the list very much. This allows for someone to learn the list while still staying competitive. Eventually they will learn the ins and outs of the list and can go to something more aggressive in its choices while making safer and less risky plays
