Maybeboard


Hey guys, this is my Jhoira deck, with a lot of artifacts, planeswalkers and other legends ;)

I would really like to know from you guys what you think about the deck, and especially about some of the cards in the maybe board. I'm not playing the combo cards, since in our playgroup we usually don't run infinite win conditions and we like the more grindier games. But I wanted to include them, just in case this ever changes of my meta shifts ;)

Cards I'm considering to add but unsure of their impact in this deck:
  • Ghirapur Orrery: I don't need the extra cards, but I find myself consistently drawing so many cards that I could easily make two land drops every turn. I could think about playing two lands, sacrificing it, then bringing it back from the graveyard during my turn. That way it wouldn't be an symmetrical effect, but I'll be missing out on recurring other stuff instead. Does anyone have experience playing this card?

  • Engineered Explosives: This is just a 2 color deck, so only with the help of cards like Mox Opal or Fellwar Stone this could hit more than 0-, 1- and 2-mana permanents. Also, a lot of my own stuff is quite cheap, but I wouldn't blow it up if it hurts me more than anyone else obviously. Is it worth a slot?

  1. Winter Orb + Clock of Omens: Lets everybody only untap only one land each turn. Except, you are going to tap both at the end step of the player right before your turn. Also works with Ghirapur AEther Grid, but then you need another artifact to tap.
  1. Retraction Helix + Traxos, Scourge of Kroog + Mox Opal: This combo produces infinite mana by bouncing and replaying the mana rock. Add Jhoira to the mix and you may draw as mana cards as you want until you bounce her. You can also use Banishing Knack, Battered Golem and any mana rock that taps for more mana than it costs (Sol Ring, Mox Amber, ...).

  2. Basalt Monolith + Rings of Brighthearth : A well known infinite mana combo

  3. Grand Architect + Pili-Pala : Another well known infinite mana combo.

  4. Words of Wind + Mox Amber + Mox Opal + Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain: You just need to draw 1 card to get the combo going. Instead of drawing, you pay with the Amber you then bounce and everybody else has to bounce a permanent as well. You replay the Amber and get another draw trigger from Jhoira. This time you pay with the Opal since the Amber is still on the stack and you bounce the Opal. Repeat until you are the only one left with any permanents in play.

I'm going to keep updating this deck, since it's one of my favorites at the moment. So you can be sure there will be updates in the future.
