Jori En, Aurora Diver

Commander / EDH*

Tinyspecialist

The general plan is to slow down the game and gradually wear people down with pings while keeping shields up until I've cloned/stolen/replicated/anthemed enough of a boardstate to attack in. My experience is that it tends to be weak before turn three/four and then soar past everyone.Theres an "infinite counterspell" combo if you can clone enough Lullmage Mentors, but for the most part everything else is geared towards incremental value. It tends to play like a lower-key version of Mizzix or Jhoira (as different as those are), and can be reasonablyconverted into either with a 10-15 card sideboard if you need something meaner. Jori-En fosters an interesting play pattern where youre usually trying to make exactly two moves per turn and slowly crescendo up until your ready to cast decisive spells like Expropriate. Her greatest assets are her easily built upon Merfolk Wizard typing and nonspecific/nonthreatening rules text. Opponents tend to have a hard time assessing when and how the deck is about to cook off, so they tend to assume its struggling until youre in extra turn #3 and Jori-En is an Unblockable Trampling 10/11. Of additional note is a lesser-known mechanic called Cipher, which is on two cards in this build (thered be more, but I think there are <5 total available in U) and can give you a free cast trigger for Jori-En when your creatures deal combat damage to an opponent. Lastly, the lands could use an upgrade, but they get the job done in their current state. Thanks for reading this far!
