JOU Golagari Graveyard Abuse

Standard BG (Golgari) Dredge Midrange

Gruul_Canuck

Sideboard

Planeswalker (2)

Instant (4)

Sorcery (2)

This deck is a lot of fun to play as it takes an unconventional path to victory. There's a few ways to win with this deck but they all boil down to filling up your graveyard, casting/whipping a big creature and using Jarad's and Deathrite's abilities to drain life.

Before I delve into my own touches, kudos to Conley Woods & Ari Lax for brewing the original build of this deck and to Hal Brady & Jonathan Habel for representing it on the SCG Open circuit.

This is my build of the current standard G/B dredge deck. I first saw Jonathan Habel play a very similar deck in a round 2 of SCG Milwaukee & Hal Brady play his brew of this deck at SCG Dalas.

My deck differs from others most notably in the lack of Sylvan Caryatid. While there's god reasons to include it in the deck, I feel that Elvish Mystic, Satyr Wayfinder, Grisly Salvage & Deathrite Shaman give the deck enough mana ramp.

Pretty bad night for this deck at the first tournament I took it too. It's done much better in casual but tonight I was facing more experienced players and worked before the tournament. Surprisingly, it's closest round was against G/W aggro and it's worst round was against a W/B Devotion deck that ran Soldier of the Pantheon, Archangel of Thune and post-board had Rest in Peace.

I am moving the 2x Golgari Charm to the sideboard in favour of 2x Whip of Erebos. As much as I like Golgari Charm, it's not as synergistic as the Whip and is better to be boarded in when needed.
