Maizena: shrug I used to run it, but it proved somewhat...volatile. In my meta, there are few sources of damage that deal damage in one big chunk (instead, nearly all sources will deal it in many small pings), so the card isn't good.

Sterling0528: I've found it to be fantastic in this list to be honest. It has double strike and comes down early, so it can carry Jitte or Swords in the early game. Plus when my board is removed by a Wrath effect, I can reanimate him from the GY to carry my equipment. He's just a very solid creature with the addition of equipment :)

What about Blasting Station to flip avacyn at will?

I just got my hands on a copy of Imperial Recruiter for this deck!
What would you all suggest cutting for it?

What are your recommendations for sideboarding? What would you take out and put in for different situations?

Citrusjeans: Hmmmm. It's sorta one of those "to taste" things. I'd definitely cut Aggravated Assault and many of the high-drops if I wanted to add MLD.
Blasphemous Act and removal like Path to Exile are my cuts against creature-light decks, in favor of responses like Red Elemental Blast.
Rule of Law is one of the best cards in the game against most competitive combo lists, and honestly I probably should have an Eidolon of Rhetoric in the SB as well. Combo lists are fast enough that I'd never manage to hit Argentum Armor or Sun Titan reasonably, so those are good swaps there.
Honestly sideboarding is something that's hard to quantify. Whatever you find useless in a given matchup is a good swap ;) Does that help?

Definitely helpful, my meta mostly consists of fast combo decks and reanimators like Tasigur and Meren. Thanks for the tips you have a tight list!

I've just purchased my first Sword of Fire and Ice, and the change in how well the deck played was almost instantaneous. Before, my first tutor was usually Mask of Memory, and while I did get some card draw, needing to discard was sometimes crippling. Fice is so much better, but you know this already. Even without the Swords, Jitte, Land Tax, Scroll Rack, Memory Jar, and Aggravated Assault, this deck can hit hard, but I've gotten my first taste of true power. My next target is Scroll Rack. I love this deck.

MrSuffix: Yeah, there's a reason that Sword of Fire and Ice is bonkers lol - recurring removal and draw, in colorless? Good god.
This deck can be so much fun! I'm happy you like it, man. And yes, Scroll Rack is an amazing card too. I'd recommend picking up Sword of Feast and Famine first, though, if you don't already have a copy (often even better than SoFaI).

Great Deck and great primer! It has been an inspiration for my own and I keep coming back to know where it stands and where it goes. Keep it up!

Any thoughts on the new Dampening Sphere? Personally, I think Rule of Law is just better, but it might be a helpful piece of redundancy. Maybe.

tried playing the deck at my locals for a while ... the deck barely did anything ... cards i didn't had from the deck Aggravated Assault, Wheel of Fortune, imperial Recruiter.
its also possible that i m not suited for this deck still people enjoyed playing vs it

TzickyT this happens sometimes, as it does with every deck below T1-T0.5.
if you don't have wheel of fortune, just use reforge the soul. works just as well and can be cheaper to use if you use the miracle cost off the draw.
another thing with boros colors is that it often struggles with draw power, so it often gets bloated with tutors (mo money T_T).

Imrith: Thanks, man! I'm happy that you've enjoyed this deck :)
MrSuffix: Rule of Law is better, but Dampening Sphere is indeed a fantastic card. I'm going to test it in here once Dominaria comes out.
TzickyT: Hmm. Interesting. What was your problem with the deck? What were your experiences? I might be able to help more if I understand your meta and what happened when you ran it. (Also, haven't you had success with this list in the past? Or am I misremembering?)

Hey there Daedalus! Not sure if you remember me, but you helped provide input to my semi-budget version of your deck with the MLD package back in October. Thus far, i've been undefeated in my playgroup with it lol. I love this deck! I use it sparingly now, only bringing it out when my friends bust out their more degenerate decks. It's always nice having this deck in my back pocket and I am so happy that I found your primer. I haven't quite kept it updated with some of the more recent changes you made (ex: I'm still running Quicksmith Rebel among other things). I've had a blast playing it! I just need to pick up a copy of rekindling phoenix. Thanks for all your help! I don't regret building this deck for a second and it has surpassed my expectations :)

Daedalus19876 played around with the deck twice at this moment ... my meta is diverse. even on casual decks i have nothing to stand against my opponents. my problem with the deck is that the commander i use it as a tool and mostly it doesn't help me at all couse mostly the commander is my main monster i need to attack with. most of the time i had mana problems and the meta at my locals is very high to begin with. ( the meta i play against is mainly turn 3 someone wins.) most decks are on the point of tier 1 or better. stil if i go to the casual edh players ... i don't have the feeling i m playing with the deck or doing anything with it. our casual gamers mostly use 10 boardwipes a deck. don't know if that helps a lot for explaining.

TzickyT: Hmmm. I mean, any aggro deck has extreme difficulty facing T3 combo decks, especially Boros lists (there are few good responses). If your meta is mostly fast combo, I'd look into including hate pieces to slow them down (like the new Damping Sphere, Rule of Law, etc). Which combos specifically are you losing to?
If your problem is board wipes, I'd suggest not over-extending yourself whenever possible. The deck generally is pretty resilient to most creature wipes - you can flash in Avacyn in response - but gets hit hard by artifact wipes. If your artifacts are frequently being removed, I'd focus on tutoring for Sunforger, which in turn can grab Boros Charm (and possibly adding Teferi's Protection as well). I'd also suggest not casting Avacyn if you think they're holding a board wipe, but instead beating them to death with your other creatures carrying equipment (so you can hold up Avacyn as board protection).

Daedalus19876 decks i lose against = Zur the enchanter / Kaalia/ Omnat/ Erebos / Tasigur/ Joira / karador/ niv mizzet/ most decks use Doomsday at my locals- others win on milling than u have a lot of blue ... players ... theres not realy much anything i can do against that. even some decks win on turn one.( forgot there general) for the rest i don't think the deck would do fine at my locals. and probebly i aint the best player for a boros edh. i play mostly random decks and try now and than other once decks.

Daedalus19876 says... #22
TzickyT: This deck will indeed have some difficulty against well-tuned Zur and Niv-Mizzet decks (strong lockdown/control and combo), but I've won against tuned versions of all of the others you mention shrug That doesn't sound like a meta where aggro decks in general are very happy, though. Is this a meta where the deck plays in 1v1 or multiplayer?

Man, I have to say: _wow_some of my friends have sub 900 dollar decks, built from scratch, killing me turn 3. Obviously, I cant afford that, and I have been looking for a deck that is cheap and can put up a fight. At first glance, I almost clicked off seeing a $1100 tag. However, reading through the updates and how you advise how to make it cheaper, I was immediately interested. Amazing job, bro.

LegendMainsOnly: Thanks, man! I feel like I should warn you that this has difficulty against fast combo decks - white doesn't have much stack-based interaction - but this is a super fun deck that I would still recommend if you like whacking your opponents in the face as fast as possible XD
