What do you think of Tiana, Ship's Caretaker

Oh, I bet I can take this one! Tiana doesn't really have a strong impact on the board. When she comes down she doesn't do anything, and this deck doesn't have a way to cheat her in at instant speed. She basically would serve as an artifact sweeper deterrent, and that's not a good enough reason for an include. Feel free to correct me if I'm missing something.

MrSuffix: Yep, that's about right! :) She does carry swords well, so she was fighting for the slot with Teshar, Ancestor’s Apostle, but I thought the additional recursion would be worth more in the deck.

Is it weird that I just want to play against this deck just to see all of the foils and foreign cards?

dcoffin: Hmmmm. Perhaps Spirit en-Dal? It gives Avacyn shadow when she needs it, and carries swords well.

And yeah, it's an equipment I've considered for a while, but never QUITE made the cut. Partially because most equip costs in this deck are already pretty low.

Heavenly Blademaster seems good in this deck - maybe yank Elspeth, Knight-Errant for it?

I don't think Blademaster is as strong as Elspeth. This deck runs a fairly low curve, and I don't think Blademaster does enough quickly enough. On an unrelated note, I really hate the art on Blademaster, she looks like she's never held a weapon before. She's like the antithesis of a Blademaster.

MrSuffix: Yeah, I'm with MrSuffix here. Elspeth gives me bodies for my Swords, when I need them, and then gives the sword-carriers evasion and a decent power boost. I'm not convinced Heavenly Blademaster does enough at 6CMC.

What do you think of the new Guilds of Ravnica card, Swiftblade Vindicator? I was thinking it would be a good swap for Silverblade Paladin as it has more keywords, carries swords better, and is not reliant on a second creature to gain double strike. Or maybe something else could be cut in favor of it. Definitely seems strong at 2 cmc

Silverblade Paladin can make both himself and Archangel Avacyn  ^Flip gain Double Strike.

I'm suggest swap Swiftblade Vindicator with Adorned Pouncer xD

I have recently built this deck and I absolutely fell in love with it! BTW how do you feel about aurelia, exemplar of justice? with her power being 2 you can use the recruiters to draw her out too and she can pump up avacyn

Tajic, Legion's Edge saves your side from avacyn's flipping out... not sure if it has a big enough impact for ya though. Also Response // Resurgence if you're into extra combats.

Mj3913: I'm definitely considering Response / Resurgence, as well as Chance for Glory! Resurgence isn't as good as, say, Seize the Day here, but an extra copy of that effect certainly isn't bad. Meanwhile, I just am dreaming of casting Chance for Glory in response to a board wipe and killing someone (even if I die). I'm almost tempted to include Angel's Grace here for the nasty one-two punch using Sunforger...Dayum.

So I've been playing my variant of your deck for about a year now, and I am beginning to wonder if Elspeth is really worth it. 4 mana to create a 1/1 token or buff a creature for 1 turn seems like a lot to me, and since our creatures will usually be tapped from attacking, I don't even have creatures to defend her unless I don't attack. How has your experience with her been? I am considering cutting her.

On a side note, have you ever considered running Goblin Spymaster? I just rediscovered this card and it seems like a good way to force combo/control decks to attack with their fragile creatures. I may end up playtesting this in the coming mon

jakethewhale007: I find her quietly, solidly helpful. The temporary boost (and more importantly, the evasion) is handy, and if I have no creatures to carry my equipment, she makes a body. She's not the best thing ever, but she's been solid.

That being said, I'm currently in the process of revamping this a little, so we'll see what comes out.

As someone who's played against this deck on many an occasion, I officially grant my endorsement as an extraordinarily fun deck to play against. Also my irritation that, if you ever find your way back to these here parts, I'm going to have to deal with all the new Boros nonsense from GRN. grumble At least 4 damage won't be enough to kill my commander anymore ...
