Hey there! I’ve been piloting a version of this deck for a few weeks now and it’s been tons of fun! I don’t have many aggressive or even creature heavy decks so this has been a pleasant change of pace. Avacyn has proven to be a major problem for my main playgroup and it irritates them even further that they didn’t consider her strong enough to bother with lol. I’ve had games where I just turn 1 dropped a Serra Ascendant and proceeded to take over because they couldn’t stop him.
Anyway I was wondering how you felt about a couple of the new cards coming out. Mainly Smothering Tithe and Angelic Exaltation ?

RecklessN7: I'm so glad you like the deck, and that I could inspire you! I think both definitely have a home here ;) what have you changed in your version of the list?

I was curious as to why Teferi's Protection is not in the deck, other than that I think the deck is fantastic.

And I was also wondering the reasoning behind leaving Wear off the list was.

Daedalus19876 The version I’m running only have a few differences but that’s mainly because I don’t have some of the cards available right now. I’m running Tajic, Legion's Edge in place of recruiter of the guard for now. I will say his ability to save your board on an Avacyn transformation has been helpful at times. Being able to save my mother of tunes or selfless spirit for a later activation has saved me a few times already.
Instead of Elspeth, Knight-Errant I’m running Nahiri, the Harbinger partly because I don’t have that Elspeth yet lol but also because I don’t have another Wheel of Fortune for her right now. The looting has helped and my playgroup never seems overly concerned with her so the few time she I’ve gotten her out the tutor has been helpful as well.
I did slot in a bit more removal as well. Mainly because my meta is creature heavy and various voltron decks are already running around that she has to compete with. Fight to the Death has saved me twice now against a Palladia that still had hexproof. Nice to flash in Avacyn to block and use that to kill that monster while she’s still indestructible lol. Also running Wear and Shatterstorm because against my more competitive opponents there is almost always something problematic to deal with.
Artifacts I’m missing some the equips and zero drop mana rocks like Mana Crypt and Mana Vault . I do have an Umezawa's Jitte on the way so that’ll help. I like Hero's Blade as its auto equip trigger has meant the difference between simply blocking with a flashed in Avacyn and killing their creature and turning the tide completely. Also running Fellwar Stone because there is almost always white or red at the table. And Mox Opal because there’s a lot of artifacts so it’s online more often than not.
Don’t know if any of that will help with ideas per say but I’ll definitely be slotting in those two cards from the new set I mentioned before. Tajic and shatterstorm are currently my choices to swap out but I’m undecided as yet.

RecklessN7: Good thoughts, and I'll answer more in depth later!
I've been building a revamped version of this deck that focuses more on hatebears rather than Voltron - thoughts, anyone?

Teferi's Protection is an overperformer in EDH and it helps you not have to rebuild after boardwipes. You might want to think about upgrading your sunforger package with Lapse of Certainty and some other control cards.

Daedalus19876 Man, I'm still using the Swiftblade Vindicator and want to tell a story.
Turn 1 Sigarda's Aid
Turn 2 Swiftblade Vindicator
Turn 3 Bloodforged Battle-Axe
Attack, 3 damage, Trigger, equip. 5 damage, Trigger Trigger, equip equip.
Turn 4 Attack, 9 damage, trigger, trigger, trigger, trigger, equip all of them. 17 damage, 8 triggers, equip all of them.
Result: My opponents didn't find a removal, all dead and 64 axes equipped.

@Patolea: Oh, hello. It seems as if you responded on a Forum post about something cEDH based. Are you confident enough for how much this could work in such an environment of a Playgroup? I'm wondering as you responded in a very well made post w/ some promise...
...The purpose of that thread was for cEDH related ideas you know. Even if it's Tier 3-4 Related...
Just wondering... :)

BMHKain I know this list is not cEDH oriented but Deadalus put a lot of work on it trying to figure out the best ways to win with an aggro strategy. My intention was to show you some cards that he found usefull dealing fast damage to 3 opponents.
I really believe that if you use some ideas of this list and add some cEDH cards like Pyroblast, REB, Grand Abolisher, Silece and Angel's Grace you can compete with cEDH.

BMHKain and Patolea: This list hasn't been updated in... a while. It's strong but not cEDH-worthy, as written here.
IRL, I'm currently running a more hatebears/stax based list, and it's doing good work in cEDH-ish circles -- I really should upload it... But even then, Boros really has almost no recourse against things like Sushi Hulk. Most of our stax pieces just can't touch it correctly. For a while, the cEDH meta was drifting towards midrange, but that trend seems to have somewhat reversed.
I do really appreciate your confidence in this list, though, Patolea :D Thank you for the endorsement!

I love this deck, I'm a huge boros fan (you can check out my favorite aurelia deck - pokey sticks.) f this deck has any upgrades coming i'm sure we'd love to see any changes.

You are welcome Daedalus19876 :D
patriotsfan This deck is amazing, the current list is great already, if you utilize as base for some new cards, like Hushbringer, you can adept pretty well to your pod.

Out of curiosity have any of the new cards from Ikoria (the main set, or the commander supplement) interest you any for this deck? (This version, or the Stax one you have been running)
At the very least I feel Flawless Maneuver is a lovely piece for keeping your board alive since it's free indestructible if you have Avacyn out (and considering she can kill your board)

Lord_Rivandere: Too many to list... Flawless Maneuver, Deflecting Swat, Drannith Magistrate, Verge Rangers, Bonders' Enclave, potentially Luminous Broodmoth...

I'm curious to hear how this stacks up against either your redux or v3 versions of this list in more recent times. I've always liked this deck and wanted to build it. I see all 3 of your avacyn lists have been updated with roughly the same recentness, is there a clear winner here in your mind?

alexjustdoit: Depends on meta? This version is best for groups with little removal, but the more hatebears-centric lists are best for metas where your opponents are doing "unfair" things with infinite combos. I personally prefer the latter -- there's many voltron lists out there, but the staxier and more responsive approach breaks interesting ground.
Unfortunately, my current paper version is stuck in a different state, in an apartment I can't visit due to quarantine. I'll try to update this as soon as I get my cards back!

I've noticed you've been updating this deck a lot over the past few days. I've been coming back again and again to look as Archangel Avacyn is a deck I've been wanting to build for a while, but is so difficult to deckbuild for (as you clearly know, considering the variants this deck has)
The deck as it is now, is really interesting. At first glance to me it feels super unfocused. But the more and more I look at it, the more I notice the interlocking synergies and just how bloody hard it is to keep the deck down.
One concern I have however is you don't have many ways to manually trigger Avacyn flipping anymore. Unless I'm missing something it's only 3 creatures. Which I feel makes both the Voltron strat more difficult (espesially with not being able to use the red damage tripler you have).
One card that has been spoiled that I think you would like is Robe of Stars. Since Tapped out doesn't have it yet I'll share a link JIC http://www.magicspoiler.com/mtg-spoiler/robe-of-stars/ I think it works with keeping your commander alive, and not losing anything.

Lord_Rivandere: I'm glad this deck inspires you, in all its MANY incarnations!
Yeah, the current version is definitely much more complex to pilot than the early versions -- the synergies are less obvious, but they're still there!
There's a few more ways to flip Avacyn you might have missed! Beyond the four obvious self-sacrifice creatures ( Benevolent Bodyguard , Ranger-Captain of Eos , Selfless Spirit , and Remorseful Cleric ), we also have two other controllable death triggers in Solitude 's evoke ability and the germ when we unequip Nettlecyst . Also, Ranger of Eos almost always retrieves Benevolent Bodyguard as one of its two creatures, so that's essentially a guaranteed flip as well :)
And sometimes it's worth just using a Sword of Fire and Ice or Umezawa's Jitte trigger to hit our own things in a pinch ;) But yeah, the flip damage has become a bit less of a true FOCUS and more of a... deterrent? "You'd better not block/kill/attack my hatebear, otherwise Avacyn will Purify your battlefield with deathtouch!"
I don't quite understand something you said: why can't I use Fiery Emancipation without flipping Avacyn?
And yeah, there are SO many things I want to add to this deck... Hope of Ghirapur seems playable again given Urza's Saga , I want to find a slot for Kaldra Compleat so I can cheat it out with Stoneforge (and get another death trigger off the germ), and there's at least 4 cards I'm definitely testing in Avacyn from the new set ( Share the Spoils , Fighter Class , Oswald Fiddlebender , Mantle of the Ancients) and like 20 more I'm considering (including Robe of Stars)... This deck does so many things, though (voltron-control-hatebears-combo), that it's really hard to find slots...
I'd love to talk further about Avacyn whenever you want! You can either ask me here, or reach out on Discord: daedalus#8885
