So I think what happened CPD you confused my tron explaination for my Slippery Bogle explaination when I was talking enchantment hate over Terminate

Much more clear now. Creatures shouldn't be touched just removal. Makes perfect sense with Jund (others too). This gives me a good direction to go. thanks

No problem BigFace! A deck can only be as good as a pilot lets it be. Your not the agressive player most match ups. Your reactive more often than not. Few match ups allow you to be the attacker hard and early. An example of that is storm because they can get serious damage in 1 turn so you need to be a threat fast. Burn decks require you to be fast because they simply deal damage directly at you (Feed the Clan and Courser of Kruphix with Scavenging Ooze do a fairly nice job combating the damage early on) But you can also just slow burn to a crawl and then sustain yourself at 8 life and take over.

Most matches your waiting to see what they do and your trying to bait out counters, or removal for the real threats in your hand or on the board ( Raging Ravine)

Yeah, must've been confuzzled. I might have to look into that Slippery Bogle for a deck or two I have. 1-drop hexproof? Yes, please. I can think of a few times that would be an amazing card to have.

Hey my man had some questions on Volcanic Fallout. I'm replacing them with my ok Pyroclasm. But besides the obvious what kind of decks am I looking forward to to sideboard them against. Starting to prepare for a tourney online.

I've also stuck 1x Anger of the Gods in my mainboard.

BigFace I use fallout for Splinter Twin and Geist of Saint Traft like decks. It's instant speed and can't be countered. That's what makes it better in my opinion.

I would agree. What's it like playing Abzan Midrange and Abzan Hate Bears? Those looked like tough match ups.

How do you feel about Molten Rain, Bonfire of the Damned, Shatterstorm in Sideboard? Saw Shatterstorm show up in SB, too! Is this a meta call and/or different Jund decks will carry more fluent cards that connect with the mainboard? Maybe they just don't choose the best.

And Stormbreath to Hellkite. Isn't Junk roaming around more? They seem about equal in that setting because of White removal to Stormbreath but then there's Lingering Souls to Hellkite.

Your really helping me understand the meta. Appreciate it.

BigFace says... #8

Correction: Saw Dragon's Claw show up in sideboards too.

March 29, 2015 4:36 a.m.

Jamesfurrow says... #9

BigFace those are good options for sideboard. Shatterstorm is solid versus affinity, and artfifact heavy decks. Molten Rain is powerful vs tron. And other mana greedy decks. (Tron the major one). The storm vs hellkite scenario is purely your own call. If you feel you have more usa match ups then storm may be better but if ur agaisnt a lot of lingering souls, abzan's and tokens then hellkite may be the better option. There's a reason why no two sideboards are the same

Hey question for ya. What's your thought on Kitchen Finks? Seen recent tournament decks online running 2-3x a lot. Do you think this could replace something like Courser? I realize he draws. But for crying-out-loud every time I drop him there's no lands for 2-3 turns!!! So now my opponents know what's coming up.

So what's the verdict?

April 1, 2015 4:34 p.m.

Jamesfurrow says... #11

BigFace lol finks is a good replacement but his body doesn't do as much. And regardless if it's land or not they will see what's on top....you don't care if they do when every card has them clutching their hand dearly. And courser is more than life gain. If chandra is out it also acts as a draw mechanic from her. You can move the land then see the next threat and then choose to wisely 0 her then doing so blindy hoping it equals a card that won't go to exile for nothing.

If you want Kitchen Finks that's fine. If you want courser that's fine too. You don't have to copy my deck card for card. Just know All of the interactions before deciding. And if their pro's benefit you more in 1. Your style of play and 2. What's commonly being played in your area.

Verdict=

Know your local area. Then determine if you need anti aggro body vs removal heavy meta with life sustainability

Also BigFace another thing to consider is you should rarely be in top deck mode. Your hand is constantly filled and you can bid your time a little with this deck. You eventually will go to top deck but with Garruk, chandra, courser, and tasigur it's fairly hard to not have mana and cards to use.

BigFace You're better off with Sowing Salt than molten rain, as it really fs up Tron.

BigFace says... #14

Jamesfurrow. Ok. I got a better grasp on this now. I just now bought my 2x Chandras. I hadn't been playing her so... well... I just didn't know it worked like that. : /

And yet another thought to pick your brain good sir! What's the deal with Dismember anyways? Why don't people just play 4x Terminate in Jund??? Is 1 whole mana worth the extra life? Especially when we are running Thoughtseize?

malfeischylde You bet I will. I want to crap on Tron. Probably cuz it's so good.

The idea with Dismember is how flexible it is. You can leave up any color mana and it will work making it not as predictable and again, gives you more wiggle room to do other things. It also is great vs indestructible.

BigFace says... #16

JakeKita Aaaah. I see, I see. Learning a lot now. thanks

April 1, 2015 9:30 p.m.

JakeKita says... #17

In reality, it's just preference. Some decks don't need to run it but, splashing one is always nice.

April 1, 2015 9:43 p.m.

Jamesfurrow says... #18

Also to add on to JakeKita's Point on Dismember BigFace s it's also not as mana intensive. To have red black turn 2 is not as reasonable as opposed having black and x mana. And as he said it gets around indestructible. Though it also gets around regenerate too. So it effectively is a stronger terminate unless agaisnt creatures with a toughness of 6+.

Dismember is a solid card all around and helps keep the mainboard diverse and able to interact as soon as turn 1 if need be. I had a white deck bring those in. Agaisnt me to kill tasigur. (Hehe they didn't know bout stormbreath yet) and that simply hurts when I'm suddenly getting other bombs out and my synergies start going off

I don't see a Blackcleave Cliffs anywhere in there, which is arguably the best turn one land because it lets you play both Thoughtseize or Lightning Bolt turn one without taking damage, which is actually quite important.

April 1, 2015 10:49 p.m.

BigFace says... #20

pumpkinwavy It is important but this is a slower Jund. Similar to what I'm constructing. To me it's a toss up if it's better. I run 2x. Sometimes they're excellent. More often then you might think it hurts quite a bit after turn 3ish.

Those lands do seem inconsistant and fall off QUICK

April 2, 2015 12:12 a.m.

Jamesfurrow says... #22

pumpkinwavy while your correct it's an amazing turn 1 it's a horrible turn 5. I don't plan for a turn 6 win per say. I can't really afford to fall behind on my mana usage. Ik Garruk will untap it but I then technically lost 1 mana I could have used to play. Cliffs is good but to be effective with mana I choose more shocks vs quick lands since my plan is to get going turn 6-10 and start changing the tides with large amounts of removal and powerful creatures on board

malfeischylde says... #23

I like the "if not 2" lands in controlie decks more than midrangie and aggro decks. They seem to fit in better there, when you have counters and/or bounce options. No?

Jamesfurrow Speaking of efficient mana use I've been experimenting with 1x Fire-Lit Thicket. It came to me when I noticed a lot of cards that took 2 Red or 2 Green in the casting cost... and that it was a 1.60 online. : /

I've only landed it once but it went really well. I had out Ooze and I was clearing their graveyard quick.

I swapped a Stomping Ground for the Thicket. I switched to 3x Thoughtseize. All the shocks were making me wonder if I should make an adjustment.

Also, I've been landing those Chandra's. The exile ability is the meat of her. But that +1 ping ability is better than I expected. Primeval Titan sat there on the drop and I kept swinging with Golden Fang for the win.
