Dead weight helps fuel delirium

BigRed: It does, but the card isn't that great. Late game it just sticks to the creature. It's an Enchantment that Sinister Concoction already provides for Delerium and it's a better form of removal I'd say.

Sinister concoction is -2 cards hand value mill yourself take a damage to destroy a creature. Seems pretty bad in my opinion.

BigRed: That does make sense, however, this deck wants to self mill itself. It wants to discard cards. When my hand is empty; Asylum Visitor will draw me a card for the cost of 1 life which is just fine. On turn 2, it gets me 3 cards to Delirium by itself which is very good so that on turn 3, my Inexorable Blob is ready to start making babies when it attacks. The enchantment is also always going to kill the creature unless it's indestructible. Dead Weight won't always kill it.

So why not oath of nissa? and if there is any graveyard hate your delirium is turned off and puts the deck at a disadvantage because you had to ping yourself to get there. Seems like to me if you cut the demon and added more 3cc creatures with coco you have a pretty solid deck.

I've looked at Oath of Nissa and the reason I don't like it in this build is because the rest of the cards you didn't choose go to the bottom of your library. Currently, there is no graveyard hate. The only thing that happens is there is 1-2 cards that shuffle it back into the library which is fine with me because that usually happens later in the game and by than I can cast any threats I've milled previously and I get extra value from the cards that I discarded by being able to cast them/discard them again.

Hangarback Walker would give you two types of an cards in your graveyard. You can even play it for 0 manacost, if needed.

n4pesto: I do understand how Hangarback Walker can be really good in this deck. My only issue is that I traded all of mine a couple weeks ago. If I were to put him in, what would you recommend taking out? Maybe Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip?

March 31, 2016 7:17 a.m.

n4pesto says... #9

Well actually walker will help your Liliana to flip assuming you play him for 0. I'd probably cut the Deathmist Raptor and Den Protector combo for Hangarback Walkers, Tormenting Voices and maybe that cool blobb creature you got there.

n4pesto: I acyally think that the Inexorable Blob is the best card in the deck. I figured Deathmist Raptor + Den Protector would be nice to have in case I mill/discard the Raptor. Than I can have multiple of them coming back. I guess I can cut that combo out and add more value spells like Kolaghan's Command and such.

I want to try and make this as midrange as possible while still keeping the Delirium and Discard as the main part of the deck.

IzzetGod says... #11

I meant to say Inexorable Blob is the best Creature card.

March 31, 2016 10:32 a.m.

n4pesto says... #12

Oh, you must misunderstood me. I meant that you could ADD one more Blob :D-4 deathmists-3 protectors+3 hangarbacks+3 tormenting voices (or kolaghan's commands if you're willing)+1 blob

March 31, 2016 10:37 a.m.

IzzetGod says... #13

n4pesto: I never misunderstood at all haha. I was just stating a fact XD

I'm think the Command is better than Tormenting Voice because it's a 2 for 1 and it with Asylum Visitor, I usually want to have an empty hand. Not saying Tormenting Voice is bad, I just think Asylum Visitor does what I would usually have Tormenting Voice for.

The problem is when you have three cards in your hand, and they are all lands, or something you want to save for later.

March 31, 2016 10:58 a.m.

IzzetGod says... #15

n4pesto: Save what for later?

March 31, 2016 11:06 a.m.

n4pesto says... #16

Lightning axe or, to the slaughter for example.

March 31, 2016 11:53 a.m.

IzzetGod says... #17

n4pesto: Oh! You're talking about Asylum Visitor and me having either Lands or cards i'd save for later in my hand. That makes sense but even Asylum Visitor can be OK to keep in hand since it has Madness. If I have a way to trigger Madness like Lightning Axe, I can discard Asylum Visitor and cast it at instant speed.

True dat.

Have you thought about Ob Nixilis Reignited by the way?

March 31, 2016 1:01 p.m.

IzzetGod says... #19

n4pesto: I've thought very little of him. I don't know how well he would work though. The +1 is pretty decent. And his -2 is not that great. It is a former of removal, but I don't know if he's for this deck...what are your thoughts?

March 31, 2016 2:03 p.m.

n4pesto says... #20

I consider all planeswalkers the same way. They are at their worst still an distraction to your opponent. His +1 is quite solid. His -3 is better than ultimate price. His -8 is a clock that the enemy can't get rid of. All in all, he is a threat that must be answered, and will get a lot of attention, which would be on your hp or creatures otherwise. All in all, Ob is quite nice.

I don't know does he forward your gameplan anyway besides you CAN put your hangarback to sleep with his -3. I'm not saying it's an optimal situation, but if needed, you CAN. I'd probably played him over Transgress the mind. Also if you get his emblem, your opponent needs to consider, will he play off his cards, if you have Asylum Visitor onboard.

Also I'm a noob. So be wary with my "advice".

March 31, 2016 2:31 p.m.

IzzetGod says... #22

n4pesto: whether you're a noob or not. I agree with you on the Hangarback Walker strategy. Taking out Deathmist Raptor isn't such a big deal as I can see him being cut a lot due to my sideboard being mostly spells and Fleshbag Marauder is ano the 3 drop. Den Protector I think is also fine as it has opened up room for Kolaghan's Command which does a lot more. So I feel that advice isn't bad at all. It's just a testing and the cards I'vw changed may change back in the future. I'm not a noob, but am new to playing Jund. So I'll be looking to take in any and all advice until I have the deck in paper to test it out daily.

As for Ob Nixilis: I disagree on his -3 being better than Ultimate Price. It's got no restrictions which is better, but it's Sorcery speed which is a big deal in most cases. He's also 5 CMC and doesn't add anything to what the deck is looking to do. The ultimate and Asylum Visitor is pure synergy. However, if I play Ob, most likely I'll minus him immediatley and than I'll most likely never ultimate him. Transgress the Mind is necessary to see what the opponent is up to and to keep things like my Ooze alive. It also dodges Madness!

One more thing I want to point out in case you aren't aware (no offense at all to anybody) but just because a Plabeswalker hit the battlefield; doesn't mean it's a threat. Ob Nixilis Reignited isn't that kind of Planeswalker that you'd panic over. Only time he hits and you must take him out is if you don't have a disclosed victory or you're behind/in a stalemate. If you can deal quite the blow to someone even the turn after they play a Planeswalker, there is almost no reason to focus on it unless you know your opponent will run away with it. That's how I look at it.

I see your point. Keep him in mind though, you might want to reconsider later. Is there any particular reason for playing Foul Orchard over Llanowar Wastes?

I'd be glad if you looked Esper Control deck. I've received quite some help with it, but still am not sure about it.

Second Harvest. With Thopters and all the Ooze oozing around :D

March 31, 2016 3:25 p.m.

IzzetGod says... #25

n4pesto: No way does Second Harvest fit in this deck. That's for another deck!

Honestly I forgot Llanowar Wastes existed! Thanks for pointing that out!
