I was just getting back into EDH, and wanted to build a low-budget deck with cards I had available. My goal was to make a utility deck with some creatures, burn, opponent answers, draw, and staying power.

I chose Xira Arien because, being a mere 1/2 flier, she seems to be very non-threatening, so she may be left alone while attention is diverted to other players in the game. Spending removal to get rid of her might seem like a waste too. Her draw ability can be impressive though, easily generating some card advantage every turn.

I put in a few other staples too like Icy Manipulator, Swiftfoot Boots, and Sorin Markov, as well as a few oddities like Dash Hopes, Nuisance Engine , and Trailblazer's Boots.

I'm hoping to use this deck at the next EDH tournament at my local game shop on Tuesday, it would be great to hear some comments/suggestions! I really appreciate anything you have to offer, so fire away! =)
