Modern FNM @ ChannelFireball Game Center 9-18-15
I took the deck to its first tournament. I went 2-1-1, I split with my opponent for the final round, because during the down time between the rounds I started a game of EDH with some people. I was paired up anyways, against Amulet Bloom, so I didn't want none of that combo shenanigans anyways. Bogles has a tough time with combo decks.
My first match was against a UW control, though it was a brew. He had Dragonlord Ojutai and Icefall Regent, trying to make them work with Silumgar's Scorn.
- The first game was pretty close, I had a Slippery Bogle with some enchantments, though he had a bunch of cryptic commands, or as I told him, Time Walks, to tap my dude so he was able to stabilize a bit. He resolved a Geist of Saint Traft and I said to myself, "eh, I have a Daybreak Coronet in hand, I'm fine," at this point we were both pretty low on life totals. He had enough mana to activate his celestial colonade even when I had a Suppression Field on the board. In the final turn (before I conceded the game), I cast Daybreak Coronet but it gets Mana Leaked, I scoop only to realize I had Dryad Arbor (right next to the bogle along with two more untapped lands, I could have wiggled through that Mana Leak, oh well...
-Second game went a little faster: T1 Land-Bogle, T2 Land-SupField T3 Land-SupField-GAME. He had 2 islands on board with 4 more fetches in his had, he had no way to crack them...
-Third game was a dream draw, It took me 3 turns before he conceded.
Second match only took two games. It was against lantern control.
-I was able to speed past him the first game.
-In the second game he used Thoughtseize to grab Kor Spiritdancer, shoot, no more creatures. I forgot the deck ran Thoughtseize! Oh well... I top draw and play Stony Silence, he had two Codex Shredder at this point, but stony silence survived the shedding! turn two [[stony silence got him, but he didn't concede yet, he cast Ancient Stirrings grabbing Lantern of Insight, pitching an Ensnaring Bridge (at this point I didn't hide my had since they were all cards he'd seen because of Thoughtseize. I top deck Dryad Arbor, slammed it down and attached two ethereal armor, with two Daybreak Coronet still in hand, he conceded. He revealed to me afterwards that he pitched the Ensnaring Bridge.
Third match, I lost to Infect. He took both games. I joked, "Race to 20, race to 10. Seems fair."
Last match I split with my opponent.
Overall, a good first tournament for my new modern deck, my soul sisters deck just seems to be too slow in comparison to Bogles.
