Sideboard

Grand Prix anyone?

This is my current standard deck, I am still in the process of building it. A regular high school student can't buy all the needed cards in one day. I'm going to use it at Grand Prix this coming January, I just hope this will get me into the finals.

Here are the cards and their function/s.

Creatures:

  • Elvish Mystic - Midrange decks need all the mana they could get, that's why I have four copies of these elves on my deck.
  • Sylvan Caryatid - Saves you from getting mana-screwed.
  • Courser of Kruphix - Gets me mana and life. I only need two, because I already have 8 mana-producing creatures.
  • Brimaz, King of Oreskos - There's just no end to these cats.
  • Reaper of the Wilds - She's a good crowd-control creature, she can't be targeted easily, and I could scry.
  • Siege Rhino - Aside form being a chump blocker, the lose 3 gain 3 is very useful. I can also utilize this ability even though it is dead by using the ability of Whip of Erebos.
  • Wingmate Roc - Life gain and 2 3/4's.

Planeswalkers:

  • Ajani, Mentor of Heroes - This dude helps me get the creatures I need and can also beef them up.
  • Elspeth, Sun's Champion - She could flood the battlefield with soldiers. The second ability is quite troublesome, considering that some of my creatures have power four or greater.

Artifacts:

Instants:

  • Hero's Downfall - Get's rid of creatures or planeswalkers.
  • Utter End - I used to have both Putrefy and Golgari Charm on my last deck so that I could take care of artifacts and enchantments, but this thing gets rid of more than just artifacts and enchantments.
  • Abzan Charm - Exile, Draw, 2 +1/+1 counters. Maeks me crei evrytiem.

Sideboard:

  • Bile Blight - This gets rid of those bloody tokens that just hurts my eyes every time they grown in numbers.
  • Drown in Sorrow - I really liked Golgari Charm's -1/-1 effect and I need this to replace that.
  • Duneblast/ End Hostilities - Some board wipes, they become very useful if your opponent started producing creatures or perhaps tokens.
  • Erase - Just in case I need to exile an enchantment.
  • Ob Nixilis, Unshackled - I just love the +1/+1's and the lose 10 whenever an opponent searches.
  • Reclamatiopn Sage - Most would recommend back to nature, but I can't risk destroying my enchantments.
  • Stain the Mind - If you know your opponent's win con, this might save you from it.

As of the moment, I still need some cards for the main board.

I still have a long waaaaay to go. D:

Please leave some suggestions for this deck, I would really appreciate that. If you think that it is okay, maybe you could give it a +1. Cheers mate!

Updates Add

Well, I passed the Philippine's top 1 university entrance exam and I would be selling the pieces to make myself a casual deck. I won't be quitting Magic: The Gathering, it's just that I'm not going to play any competitive matches anymore, I'm just going to play with a casual deck. I'd probably make a Soul Sisters deck.
