Abzan Counters and Synergy.

Ainok Bond-Kin + Mer-Ek Nightblade All countered creatures have First Strike and Death Touch

Cruel Sadist + Mer-Ek Nightblade 3 mana -1 counter kill any creature

Ainok Bond-Kin + Ivorytusk Fortress Allows you to attack or outlast with what every you want, and then double or triple block as much as you want since you're creatures have First Strike Mer-Ek Nightblade and Abzan Falconer will help this for obvious reasons. Ivorytusk Fortress > Brave the Sands Because of Anafenza and outlast. Anafenza, the Foremost + Ivorytusk Fortress Vigilance with tapping. Disowned Ancestor + Ivorytusk Fortress Outlast, Untap, Block.

Cruel Sadist + Ivorytusk Fortress Allows for a tap on your turn and the next turn. IE. Double "outlast," "outlast" and kill creature, or 2 turns of kill creature.

Cruel Sadist + Hardened Scales is actually a key component of this deck because you can get a really big countered creature really fast. Ideally, you want to leave your mana open for a combat trick, like Feat of Resistance or Abzan Charm. Then at the end of their turn, pump Cruel Sadist. She goes from a 1/1 to a 3/3 at instant speed so you can also use this to avoid Magma Jet Etc. An additional option with Cruel Sadist is to use her as a blocker, than activate her "outlast" like ability. This can also be done with Fleecemane Lion and it can catch opponents off guard because normally you can only "outlast" as a sorcery. Being able to take advantage of the sliver-like outlast abilities like death-touch, flying, first strike, lifelink, etc. with the ability to outlast at instant speed makes for a strong advantage (its why they didn't make anycards in the KTK set able to do it.)

Abzan Battle Priest + Cruel Sadist Recoup the loss of life. It also works with her removal ability since she is damaging them unlike Retribution of the Ancients Battle priest can very well gain you much more life per turn than you're opponent can deal damage since ideally all of your creatures will/should have counters on them at any given moment.
