I can only speak for using her in the other build, but she's been pretty solid actually. Having a sac outlet on a creature (admittedly not a free sac outlet) is super powerful for white/green (there's like all of 4 creatures that can do it). It's also good as it provides a bit more vairance of one drops tutorable by Yisan. Late game, a BoP doesn't have the same kind of impact after all.

Yeah GW lacks sac outlets for sure. Honestly I cant think of any improvements. The deck looks very tight.

Thank you :D it's nice to see my deck in different forms - I've always wondered how my deck would look in a combo heavy meta and honestly I really like it.
But yeah, if you do come up with any idea, let me know.

Chrome Mox and Gemstone Caverns seen like they could be good for more explosive starts
February 23, 2017 4 a.m. Edited.
I've always had a thong against Chrome Mox. I don't like the idea of having to exile a functional card (if you could pitch anything it would be a different story). And in a deck that doesn't fun blue, I just get the feeling that I would be shooting myself in the foot. I would probably run Lotus Petal first, as while it's only single use, it has no drawbacks.
Gemstone Caverns seems interesting. Again, having to exile something I'd frustrating but at least I get to choose anything.
I'll add both to the maybe board though, I'll see if I can get over my exiling phobia :P

Fair enough lol. It took me a while to get over that as well. Then I played demonic consultation. Granted I always had wheels to get back the lost card advantage so perhaps its not a perfect fit for your deck.

So when you use Saffi's ability can you infinitely sac the creature you target or is it just the next time?
July 7, 2017 1:42 a.m.
Bnon: Unfortunately no. While her ability doesn't say "the next time...", when the creature dies and returns to teh battlefield it becomes a new instance of that creature, meaning that it no longer has the ability given by Saffi. That's why you have to loop her using cards like Sun Titan, who in turn bring Saffi back into play.
July 7, 2017 3:35 a.m.
Great deck, really like what you have done with Saffi, affirming her position as a very viable combo commander - Saffi has long been a favorite of mine.
A few suggestions: Would Weathered Wayfarer be better than Knight of the Reliquary? I'm not positive on this, but I would think Wayfarer to be better since it comes down much earlier, but it does have conditions.
Timely Hordemate is another recursion creature for Saffi, but you may have enough of that going on already - and it has an attack condition.
Angelic Renewal got much better with the printing of Renegade Rallier, it is already a combo with Sun Titan.
I would definitely recommend Sakura-Tribe Elder over either Nature's Lore or Three Visits since it is a creature that can be recurred, as I am sure you already know from your previous build of this deck.
What I have been doing lately is an interesting Birthing Pod chain: pod off any three drop for Felidar Guardian, which enters play and blinks pod. Then pod off Felidar Guardian for Karmic Guide, who will trigger and return Felidar Guardian, blinking the pod once again. Now pod off Karmic Guide for Wispweaver Angel, who will trigger and blink Felidar, who will trigger and blink pod. Last pod activation sacs Wispweaver Angel getting Angel of Glory's Rise or Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. Instead of getting Wispweaver Angel at the six-mana spot you could opt for Sun Titan if the conditions called for it. Boonweaver Giant is also an option if one decides to play it in their respective deck, and it may have just got a little bit better now. There is a lot you can do with that ridiculous Felidar Guardian and Birthing Pod - I fear that the cat may also get the banhammer in Edh as well...

Nic44: I'm glad you like the deck. As for specifics:
Weathered Wayfarer is definitely a good card, however knight has a few benefits. Because she is green/white, Green Sun's Zenith can find her. She also doesn't have the same search restrictions that wafarer has. The other thing is that she outright puts the land into play, which means I don't have to rely on my land drop. The other thing is that she can get to be a real beatstick if needs be.
Timely Hordemate falls into the same category as a lot of other combo pieces - while there are a bunch of creatures that combo, the hardest part is assembling the sac outlet (as green doesn't struggle to tutor creatures). And I'd rather run slightly less combo pieces and more tutors.
Angelic Renewal is i nthe same boat as Hordemate. While it's good, I think I'd rather run Gift of Immortality. Even though it doesn't combo with Renegade Rallier, it combos with Sun Titan and gives me the option of including Heart Warden and Eidolon of Blossoms as card draw (these three form a really solid draw package, either warden + gift or eidolon + sac creature + gift).
I love Sakura-Tribe Elder as card, however it's very rare that I actually bother recuring him. And the more competitive the meta, the more important it is for lands to enter untapped. Plus being able to fetch Savannah is a huge deal. It was a tough call not to include him, but ultimately he can be a bit slow.
I do like the interaction with Felidar Guardian and Birthing Pod. It definitely warrants some further thought - I'll add him to the maybeboard. I'm not too interested in adding 7 drops to the deck, however his interaction seems strong wit hthe rest of the cards. I used to run Restoration Angel in an older build and guardian is better in most aspects.

I really love this deck. Honestly, I didn't want to because I wanted to build a Saffi good stuff deck (value creatures that I could use with Saffi to get even more value) but I really love your take on the combo.How/why did you make the changes from the original version to the cEDH list? I notice that you have one fewer land here and that you have the two cantrip walls but not Eidolon or Lotus Cobra. Also, how does Rusalka function here? You generate infinite mana and gain infinite life? I'm might be missing something (I probably am) but sac outlets that require mana to activate seem sub-par to me . . .?Anyway, not being critical; I love the deck and want to understand the complexities of it.Thanks!
October 31, 2017 1:02 p.m.
SFCD: I'm glad you like it. Saffi is one of those accidental combo commanders (like Ghave, Guru of Spores) so I figure why not just take it to its logical end point :P
As for the reason for the different deck lists - there are two main reasons. The first is that I own the main Just Stay Dead list as it is represented and that I don't have a few cards like Mox Diamond (in fact, mainly Mox Diamond), but some others like Lotus Petal/Fyndhorn Elves.
The other is that the play styles of the two are slightly different. The main list is slightly more synergistic, but slower. It has a few draw engines like Eidolon of Blossoms / Heart Warden + Gift of Immortality or Crucible of Worlds + Dryad Arbor + Skullclamp which this list has decided to drop either partially or in full in favour of cheaper card advantage to help dig for the combo faster. It has also dropped cards like Titania, Lotus Cobra and Nissa which are more land focused. Again, while they are good cards and all add value, they are not a direct line to combo and so where cut. The only exception is the addition of Aven Mindcensor who just does so much work in tutor heavy metas that he was given a slot.
The reason for starved rusalka is that it provides a creaure sac outlet on a creature. Creatures are easy to tutor (especially green ones) and being able to sacrifice stuff at will is super important, whether it's to protect a piece from exile or to get extra value from an Elvish Visionary or to assist a creature dying to Skullclamp (since Wall of Blossoms won't natively die from it), rusalka just adds value. And while Martyred Rusalka's ability is probably better, being green means she is GSZ tutorable and I can sink an entire Gaea's Cradle activation into it if I want. The other thing is that while you have to spend mana on her, as long as you have mana open she can do her thing, unlike High Market which is once a turn.
While she probably does more work in the other list (as I have stuff like Titania to recur and ther eis a janky combo that she forms), she is still worth a spot here.
I hope that gives you a bit of an idea behind the reasoning. I get that neither description talks about her (I will get around to redoing the primer one day) and she's a bit of a fringe choice. But please, I love when people question cards as it makes me have to think about why I run them, so I have no problems with others pointing out stuff they don't like.

I know but you marked the other one "competitive" in hubs.
January 23, 2018 7:23 p.m.
I haven't marked this one in hubs yet. Both the lists are competitive. This one has had a few tweaks made to bring the cost down a bit, cut some of the midrange cards and add some cards I don't currently own (I own the other deck in real life).
Basically this list is potentially faster but sligthly less flexible. It was also built for the [List - Multiplayer] EDH Generals by Tier, thus the name.

Lilbrudder, MrKrabs: what're both of your thoughts on Kuldotha Forgemaster?
I know it's a tap ability and you have to eat artifacts (most likely mana rocks) but it's an artifact tutor on a creature (which is easy enough to get). This gives a more direct line on tutoring for Blasting Station than drawing into it or the one tutor that can fetch it. Not to mention the fact that forgemaster's fetch is into play, menaing it's one less piece opponents can counter.
February 4, 2018 10:48 p.m.
Oof, I don't know...seems like a stretch.
You definitely run more artifacts than me, so it might be doable, but it seems tough.

I think I agree with MrKrabs. Back when I played Kudotha in Glissa it was hard to get to a cricital mass of artifacts to make the ability worthwhile. Moreover being a 5 drop with summoning sickness hurts
February 5, 2018 6:15 a.m.
Just realised I was missing Elvish Visionary. Have rectified this egregious oversight by replacing Wall of Blossoms with it. While these are basically the same thing, visionary natively dies to Skullclamp whereas wall doesn't, for anybody wondering why the changeout.

Boonweaver Giant and Protean Hulk seem like very reliable cards in my version of the deck. Pattern of Rebirth?
June 25, 2018 1:30 p.m.
Golfrolax: My issue with both the Boonweaver combo and Hulk is that without a repeatable sac outlet, they just act as a once off tutor. The deck only runs 5 repeatable sac outlets and of that 2 are immediate win conditions, 1 is a card draw engine and the other two generate infinite mana (I can generally set up a card draw engine given infinite mana).
If the deck had access to black, it would be a very different story as I would be running cards like Viscera Seer and Zulaport Cutthroat. However in the current build and in a combo situation I will aready have the sac outlet (say Blasting Station) and fenerally have access to Saffi Eriksdotter already. So at this point both Hulk and Boonwearver are stand-ins for a single creature. The whole beauty of both hulk and boonweaver is that they can assemble multiple combo creatures in one hit, however there isn't generally a requirement for this in the build.
As tutors they are ok, however both are very expensive to play and I'm already running a solid suite of creature tutors, all of which I would like to think are generally better than Hulk or Boonweaver, as well as better than Pattern of Rebirth. My biggest beef with pattern is that you have to both enchant a creature and then sac it. This means that in a worst case scenario, it is not useable to recover from a crappy board state, whereas the other tutors just cost mana. It also leaves a lot more openings for the creature to be removed.
I've thought about running cards like Martyr's Cause, Fanatical Devotion and even Reaper of Flight Moonsilver, however all of these cards are either too conditional, are a nonbo or both. I run Starved Rusalka (it was a toss up between her and Martyred Rusalka - martyred has the better ability but starved is easier to fuel with cradle) which is the closest the deck comes to Viscera Seer however is only good for jump starting combos/getting value, not for infinite loops.
I have looked into lines with Hulk, using rusalka plus Hidden Herbalists and Demonmail Hauberk (which can be fetched with Stoneforge Mystic) however they end up too clunky.
There is one deploy line which is Saffi + High Market into hulk, sacing saffi and then sacing hulk to market getting Academy Rector + Starved Rusalka, then off the second hulk sac (via rusalka) you can get Karmic Guide however this line still feels messy to me as you need 9 mana and High Market (so really 10 mana) to make it work.
That's my thought process on the whole thing, but I am always keen to get others' thoughts too.
June 25, 2018 9:37 p.m.
No that makes a lot of sense. My deck runs all of the white enchantment sac outlets you mentioned as well as an alternate line with hulk involving Walking Ballista. It's more common for me to cast a pattern on saffi and fetch into boonweaver. It does require a really good draw or a lot of setup. Thanks for explaining so thoroughly!!
June 26, 2018 10:56 p.m.
No problems. Do you have a decklist, I would be interested to see it. I have considered adding Walking Ballista to Saffi on and off, as well as Devoted Druid and Vizier of Remedies to act as a backup win con that doesn't need the yard (It's also kind of dumb in that you can Congregation at Dawn for all three).

The deck looks very good. How has starved rusalka been for you?
