This is a midrange/combo hybrid deck that is based upon various combos with Necrotic Ooze. It stays alive in the early game using discard and kill spells to interact with and disrupt my opponent's plans while filling my graveyard with combo pieces. While the main win con is comboing off with Necrotic Ooze, it is not uncommon for this deck to aggro it's opponents to death with the likes of Pack Rat or Thornling, etc. Below I have listed the combos used in the deck.

• Pack Rat does quite a few good things for this deck. It can quickly end games on its own if it comes down early and is not answered, it can throw combo pieces into the graveyard for us while it does this, and it allows Necrotic Ooze to create a copy of itself in the face of Path to Exile type removal that becoming indestructible or regeneration just doesn't save it from.


• Thornling is an extremely effective beater. Attacking with a 7/1 with indestructible and trample is a good way to end games quickly. It also grants indestructibility and haste to Necrotic Ooze when it is in the graveyard.


• Liliana of the Veil plays her usual roles of emptying opponents hands and killing their creatures and has the added bonus in this deck of allowing us to pitch combo pieces at the same time!


• Fauna Shaman is amazing for getting the perfect combination of creatures into the graveyard.


• Inquisition of Kozilek disrupts the opponents plans early on to smooth the way for a combo kill.


• Abrupt Decay deals with many problematic cards in the Modern format.


• Darkblast also deals with many problematic creatures that have 1 (or 2) toughness. It also comes with the added benefit of having dredge to allow me to go through my library fairly fast after I've assembled all the land I need.


• Lightning Axe also deals with many problematic large creatures that Darkblast and Abrupt Decay cannot hit such as seige rhino . It also conveniently allows you to pitch a combo piece to the graveyard at the same time.


• Faithless Looting is exactly the type of card advantage this deck needs. It can be used as early as turn one and can find me a creature to pitch for Fauna Shaman all the while filling my graveyard. Flashback is also very useful as it can be used precisely when you are ready to combo off.

Feedback greatly appreciated on the following:

• Where do you stand on Faithless Looting vs Grisly Salvage ? Should I go 3 of one or for a 2-1 split?


• Where do you stand on Thrun, the Last Troll vs Reaper of the Wilds? Do either of these deserve a spot in the deck as an additional beater that provides a useful ability when in the graveyard? If so, which one?


• What do you think about the Sideboard?
