K & T Politics Draw

Commander / EDH

X87

"Look what we fought for. Look what we built together."

This flavour text is the whole premise of my build. I want my opponents to create insane board states with the group hug cards I have to offer, while I work on my own plans for victory. Below you will find some of the thought processes I have put into place during deck creation.

I decided to make this deck after taking a good look at my current meta and see what would be a fun deck for people to play against. Out of the new commander decks that were released for 2016, this one caught my eye the most. My meta is very creature heavy, combat kills are fairly popular. Combo is somewhat in the meta, however most people like to actually play a game of magic that doesn't end on turn 4 or sooner. You're in white, so hate cards are easy to come by if needed.

We have several card draw engines in the deck that can be of use. We are looking at performing massive group card draws and having the players discard there cards. We are looking at creating massive plays on all sides of the board. Disrupting players sculpted hands in the early game can be enough for you to keep building your game plan. This deck has several ways to create chaos, while giving the illusion that you are aiding your opponents. We want to have the political group hug cards on the field so that you're opponents can build up and then you make future use of their board states.

*Consecrated Sphinx maybe a great card to have in your build so that you can draw massive amounts of cards and possibly win with lab maniac. I believe I'll need to pick one up for this build at some point. But so far I've had tons of fun without it.

We want players to overextend and tempt them in doing so. We then have a few cards like Insurrection, Reins of Power and Master Warcraft to then make use of their resources. With Master Warcraft, its best to have an opponent that is tapped out and have tax effects on the board, so that the attackers cannot be declared to you. War's Toll is a great card in this build to make sure the opponents are making max decisions during certain phases. Bident of Thassa may be another card you may want to try out to force attacks.

The rest of the build seems pretty obvious as to why the cards are in it. I'm trying my best to have a build where I can feed my opponents with card advantage and ramp when they need it, while forcing big decisions during there turn. War's toll and Thalia help prevent sneaky plays. Faith's Reward maybe a card to consider as well incase a massive board wipe occurs. If a player does feel like you are the threat at the table and starts swinging at you, K&T have great colours for fog effects. Master Warcraft can be used skillfully to prevent this if enough foresight is involved. Comeuppance does so much work for me all the time, Rein of power in dire situations and Arachnogenesis.

I have found the mana base has no problems at all. There is somewhat of a landfall theme with this build. I do plan on adding more fetches to the deck, however I have very rarely found to be mana screwed. You want your commander out as soon as possible to get the game really going. I've won a surprising amount of games already with this deck and find it a blast to play.
