This is a classic Kaalia Timmy brew that addresses Mardu's greatest weakness: the suboptimal card draw. This color wedge is very aggressive, full of removal and speed, but often struggles to find additional resources after the opening hand is used up. This is why we run most of black's cost-effective card advantage in the form of Ancient Craving, Ambition's Cost, Night's Whisper, Painful Truths, Phyrexian Arena, Necropotence and Demonlord Belzenlok. These all hurt our life total, so we are a bit reliant on lifelink from our big girl Sephara, Sky's Blade. The main focus, however, is to draw our big creatures and either cheat them into play or just hard-cast them. We also have Reforge the Soul and Dragon Mage in red for wheel effects. Finaly, our best option is actually the most flavorful: Kaalia, Zenith Seeker which normally can just replace herself (and suboptimally even whiff), but often times she can actually net us two or more cards, generating genuine card-advantage.

Always remember that Master of Cruelties is an instant kill when dropped with Kaalia if both creatures are unblocked.

Since Iona, Shield of Emeria was banned, I updated the deck to include some new threats, namely Vilis, Broker of Blood and Sephara, Sky's Blade, which basically improve on card draw and protection, respectively. Plus both creatures are huge! I also added some more ramp and Quicksilver Amulet to have more options when Kaalia is swiped.
