Hey! I am having terrible difficulty defeating a Brago player at my local card shop, my build is very similar to yours because it's based heavily on ideas you had. I can't seem to beat him no matter how hard i try, do you have any tips or ideas on what could bring him down?

Hi, sorry for the really late comment. I have a Roon of the Hidden Realm blink deck in my meta is an annoying thing to deal with. Torpor Orb, if you can get it out and it doesn't hurt you too much, works well. Lots of removal also helps, if you can get Brago off the board before he can do anything, that's good.
In terms of the Brago player messing with your plans - protection and haste work great to keep him from dealing with Kaalia. Stuff like Grand Abolisher/Cavern of Souls works to keep him from countering Kaalia. Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, and Fervor are good to get attacks in before he gets a chance to deal with Kaalia. This deck tends to be more active than reactive, so for me it's more about getting Kaalia down and swinging like a madman than it is to play the long game and keep him from wrecking you.
Mana rocks are also good for speeding your game up. Not sure if your build is regular or duel commander, but stuff like Mana Vault, Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Grim Monolith so on and so forth are the best for being able to hard cast your big guys.

Forgot to mention Nevermore as the ultimate "fuck you and your commander", but don't rely too much on this as Brago as a white commander will probably have enchantment removal. He'll also probably employ that against you after getting shut out a few times, so caution advised :)

Thanks so much for the comment! Torpor Orb and Nevermore might be what I have to add in to combat him..I have most of the other stuff you mentioned aside from boots. I run most of what you run with variations, but the only way i can seem to beat him is if I literally turn two Kaalia and not be countered lol

You can try politics - convince the other players that he's the threat.

It's 1v1, we hold 1v1 tournaments but they play multiplayer rules..they wont allow french because they are scared it will be too broken -.-

I didn't see any creatures I liked, but I loveeeeee Anguished Unmaking. So ready to replace Utter End. I also like the card that exiles a creature for 1W and they investigate. We'll just have to see.

The angel that exiles one each time it hits was almost phenomenal, but i agree. I love Nahiri , being able to search and get cards that Kaalia would have to wait another turn before getting a full effect from. Tutor for Aurelia, swing swing, put her in my hand..or better yet tutor for Rune-Scarred..then tutor for another before I even swing with Kaalia. The unmaking will most definitely be making it into my deck

Idk about the Angel. I'll probably try it but I don't like the 8cmc for only a 6/6. I'm also not sure how easily I'll be able to get 4 card types in the graveyard. Nahiri is cool but I'm not sure she's fast enough for Kaalia, especially a duel commander deck.

He doesn't have any evasion though, that's the issue. He's also four mana, which is a highly contested spot in my deck.

Yeeea he isn't as crazy as I originally thought.

How do you feel about running Gamble in this deck?

It's a good card, I like it a lot. I'd run it but I don't really want to drop $30 on it right now.

I gotcha, I feel the same. I only get my cards through my local shop in trades and store credit. Never tried online trading because it kinda scared me to be honest lol.

Hey, how do you feel about Scourge of Kher Ridges ? Seems to be another Thunder Dragon in terms of bolting our opponents little guys, plus you can continue to bolt and pour in more said bolts to deal with larger pests. He is kinda hefty on casting cost but his ability seems to be prettt solid. Thanks for the idea on Thunder Dragon Btw lol, he bolts so well!

He's just too expensive - 6RR to cast if I'm not playing him with Kaalia and 5R to field wipe is too much mana to drop.
You're welcome about the Thunder Dragon :)

Would you ever replace Enlightened Tutor for a Vampiric Tutor ? Or just run both?
April 1, 2016 9:58 p.m.
ThisIsBullshit says... #21
Vampiric is banned in Duel EDH but if I could run it I'd just run it next to the other tutors and not replace them.

Ooooh, my bad- Duel commander seems a lot more fun than multiplayer converted 1v1 lol
April 2, 2016 8:50 p.m.
ThisIsBullshit says... #23
Yeah lol it's a lot more balanced - Zur's banned in Duel EDH but in multiplayer banlist 1v1s he'll just wreck you.
April 2, 2016 10:40 p.m.
Kudos on the 10 bucks bruw :)
Really solid decklist. I've take deliberty "burrowing" some of your ideas into my own deck (regular EDH, however so no Griselbrand ;_;). If you got the time, some critism would be greatly appriciated :)
Also, +1 !

I'd use both Painful Truths and Read the Bones, because scry 2 is also quite good in a singleton format.
