The Dragonborn Rises

A new Dragonborn has risen, Kaalia of the Vast, and she takes command of her new army of Angels, Dragons, and Demons. Kaalia is obviously the main focus of the deck and the must have creature on the field at all times. She is used to play creatures from my hand for free. Every creature in the deck is an Angel, Demon, or Dragon, except for Kaalia herself, and the best badass goblin I've ever seen, Ankle Shanker. There are a few ways to fuel the fire. Teferi's Puzzle Box let's you cycle hands to feed Kaalia's army more easily, and then there's Strionic Resonator to copy her ability when she attacks, so you can summon two minions instead of one. It also pairs well with a number of other cards, like Iona, Shield of Emeria so that two colors can never be played again. Kaalia is so mean sometimes.

Mardu Mid-range Aggro

Despite Kaalia being the focus of the deck, it can run perfectly fine without her. I've won games where I never cast her. This deck can do it because it has versatility and control. You can get rid of annoyances with Utter End, wipe the field with Wrath of God, or use Crackling Doom to get rid of everyone else's big threats. You can also lock down some certain combos with the likes of Linvala, Keeper of Silence and Angel of Jubilation by locking out certain abilities. So while this deck has survivability for the long game, it's also Kaalia, which promotes heavy aggression. Might as well give your opponents a Savage Beating.

Burn, my Dragons. Burn them All!

The Dragons represent the majority of the red and burn theme of the deck. They're really good at eating up any creatures that dare attempt to defy them. Scourge of Kher Ridges and Balefire Dragon are both spectacular for clearing out any and all ground troops that might decide to retaliate. And since your army all drinks Red Bull, Scourge is unlikely to have any downside for you.

Back from the Grave

Necromancy may be frowned upon in Tamriel, but Kaalia doesn't give a s#!%. She'll do what is necessary so that you can never stop her. Her Reya Dawnbringer brings back hope each turn with the resurrection of a fallen comrade, and the Debtors' Knell can bring back anything you like that died by your hand.

Card Advantage

Any fast deck should have a way to grab what you need when you need it. Kaalia isn't afraid to make pacts with demons, or even vampires. Demonic Tutor and Vampiric Tutor can both grab something massive for Kaalia to have fun with. Bloodgift Demon can help you gain some extra cards, and even Sarkhan the Mad's crazy shenanigans are a fun way to get more cards. Even if he often kills himself the turn he's played, it's all in good fun.

Turn 3 Kill is Possible

Everyone has at least one dick move in their decks. Kaalia has her Master of Cruelties, which is very appropriately named in this instance. To get Kaalia out on turn three and attacking requires a little bit of luck, drawing both Sol Ring and Lightning Greaves. Then all you do is swing at an open opponent and drop Master of Cruelties. His trigger sets their life total to 1, then Kaalia still comes in swinging for lethal. It's almost too cruel to do, but She's gotta win no matter the cost.

Combat Tricks and Protection

Kaalia on her own is not very strong and rather easy to kill. Aside from the hasty boots, she's got a few tricks up her sleeve. She can pull some Reconnaissance which still summons a minion but can pull her away from death. Travelling through the Maze of Ith does the same thing. There's also Dolmen Gate so she'll never take damage in combat. She has minions to protect her too, like Deathless Angel. But most important of all is Kaalia's best friend, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, which makes everything you have just completely unstoppable.

Updates Add

As of today Iona, Shield of Emeria is banned in EDH, an unexpected but definitely understandable banning. One of Kaalia's besties is now gone, an irreplaceable icon which must now be replaced. However, M20 has given me a card which is definitely worth including, a new version of Kaalia herself. Now that I don't have to worry about what slot she would take over, she can slip right into the deck list.

Removed: Iona, Shield of Emeria - Banned :(

Added: Kaalia, Zenith Seeker - A very strong top deck tutor that synergizes super heavily with the commander.

Iona, you will be missed. But you'll have a new home in my collection of angels binder :(
