Me again! Your deck looks pretty solid to me, quite frankly I find Kaalia to be uber OP, as one of my buddies runs her. The worst friggin thing in the world is him dropping a Rakdos the Defiler on someone turn 3 or 4 (whenever she can attack first), and completely smashing their face in. The first attack doesn't trigger his effect so you get at least one swing in (thanks Kaalia) and after that he can sit and look pretty and be a bomb if need be. Quite honestly, considering you don't need mana to cast creatures because of Kaalia (kinda), losing stuff isn't that big of a deal, also having to pick between using a Swords to Plowshares on Kaalia or Rakdos SUCKS. Just something fun, he's kinda gimicky, but he should be cheap, yay college students!

Also as far as lands go, Hall of the Bandit Lord is nuts in this.

@goatsucker, thanks for the suggestions! I've added them both to the Maybeboard and my Wants until I've acquired physical copies of them.

You're playing Kaalia, you're aggro, should you be running the blood/bond combo or more aggro/mana rocks/creatures to smash face with faster? Idk, but I do know that even though I'm in black I don't have that combo in there because it would cripple my deck doing what it was built to do...just thoughts to ponder for you :-)

You need about 10 more lands in this deck. Even with mana rocks, in a playtest, it was tough to get lands into play.

As it can free you up to set up combos that require a lot of a certain kind of creature, as well as run any type of creature

@shika71- Thank you for the compliment! I'm building two EDH decks at the moment, one that's a bit more friendly and one that's made to destroy people who piss me off (this one is the latter). Kaalia is a ridiculously powerful general, especially under the correct conditions. It is fully possible to get a turn 4 EDH kill with the correct hand. I wish you much luck in building your Kaalia deck, and feel free to contact me if you want any help!
@dethjakal- I really like the idea of Conspiracy , but I'm not exactly sure how it would work in implementation. I understand that it would allow me to play basically any creature using Kaalia, but how would you recommend making use of Conspiracy without overly relying on it to play non-Angel, -Demon, or -Dragon creatures? My concern is maximizing its potential without getting a bunch of dead draws if I am not able to get Conspiracy into play in a reasonable and reliable amount of time. Do you have any experience in this area and, if so, can you offer any insight?

@shika71- You need a very specific hand, but it is indeed possible:
Turn 1- Land + Sol Ring
Turn 2- Land + Any of the three Signets + Lightning Greaves
Turn 3- Kaalia, equip the Greaves, attack, putting Avacyn, Angel of Hope into play and hitting for 10 damage
Turn 4- Attack with Kaalia and Avacyn again, this time putting Gisela, Blade of Goldnight into play, hitting for 30 and the game
If you play Amulet of Vigor on turn 1 in addition to the ring, the land and Greaves on turn 2 can actually be replaced with Hall of the Bandit Lord .
In addition, Avacyn can technically be replaced with any creature that has 8 power and some sort of evasion, but I like the fact that she makes Kaalia indestructible because it makes it more likely that you'll be able to get Gisela out next turn.

@dethjakal- In addition to actually getting Conspiracy in my hand, which you are correct in saying that tutors make it far easier, how many non-Angel, -Demons, and -Dragons would you recommend having in the deck to make use of Conspiracy without backing myself into a corner? My primary concern is how much deck space I should allocate to cards it would be very difficult to play without getting Conspiracy onto the field, not getting Conspiracy onto the field by itself. I'm not really sure; it feels like I would be putting a lot of dependency on something that was very difficult to make use of or protect. Do you have any advice to assuage my concerns?

Cards you might want to consider dropping: Sword of Body and Mind Sword of Light and Shadow Sword of War and Peace Whispersilk Cloak Elixir of Immortality Howling Mine Font of Mythos True Conviction Akroma, Angel of Fury Flameblast Dragon and Oros, the Avenger ; otherwise, your deck looks like the boss. Since this is edh, why do you have a sideboard?

@m12fox, Thank you for your suggestions. Right now, however, I'm still in my phase of deckbuilding in which I take all of the ideas I like and put them in the deck. Once I have all of the cards from the maybeboard in real life, I will begin to cut. Many of the cards you mentioned will probably be cut, but the Mirrodin Sword and the Cloak probably will not be cut (at leats not early) because I like the protection and additional evasion they give Kaalia.
Thank you for the compliment! I have a sideboard because my friends and I like to play with the optional rule of having a ten-card sideboard for when we feel like playing multiple games. It makes repeated gaming even more diverse than the singleton format usually is, and can stop decks from completely and totally dominating one another. It lets us build general decks for when we're playing people we don't know but allows us to have more even match-ups among each other by using cards that may not be good in general, but are good for countering someone else.

Just a few interesting interactions that you don't normally see:
Stranglehold
+ Maralen of the Mornsong
Maralen of the Mornsong
+ Aven Mindcensor
Kaalia of the Vast
+ Rakdos the Defiler
+ Erratic Portal
A funny card with Kaalia of the Vast : Master of Cruelties (If they have no creatures, swing with Kaalia of the Vast put down Master of Cruelties and they lose.)

Those are indeed some interesting interactions. However, since part of my strategy is a draw engine, Maralen would actually hold me back.
I like the idea of Erratic Portal, but I'm not sure I have enough ETB cards in this deck to make use of it other than the Rakdos combo you mentioned. I'll look into it.
I thought of the Master of Cruelties combo before, but it unfortunately doesn't work. Kaalia's ability puts a creature onto the field "tapped and attacking ". Unfortunately, that means that the creature never actually "attacks" by the rules of the combat step and by a ruling on Kaalia's ability made on September 22, 2011, so Master's ability never triggers and it just deals one damage alongside Kaalia's 2. If you've heard otherwise by judges like Epochalyptik, then I am wrong and they are right, but I'm pretty sure that's how the interaction actually works.

Master of Cruelties does work with Kaalia, but it isn't intuitive that the card would work that way.
4/15/2013: An ability that triggers when something "attacks and isn't blocked" triggers in the declare blockers step after blockers are declared if (1) that creature is attacking and (2) no creatures are declared to block it. It will trigger even if that creature was put onto the battlefield attacking rather than having been declared as an attacker in the declare attackers step.
Because the word attacks is normally used to mean is declared as an attacker, it is logical to assume that Master of Cruelties 's ability wouldn't work if it was put onto the battlefield tapped and attacking. However, attacks and isn't blocked has its own definition.
I wish they would change the convention to actually be congruent, but that's how it currently works.

I just find in my Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck which involves cheating a lot of cards out it helps deal a bit more pain when it's out.
