Kaalia's War Council! [RTR]-[THS] STD is lead by Aurelia, the Warleader herself. Kaalia has entrusted Aurelia with some of her best warriors both is strength and in tactics. Aurelia must succeed in her attempts to further Kaalia's hold and to gain stronger allies. This is the the Elite force tasked with this mission.
This deck was based off my pretty successful Kaalia's Guardians! [INN]-[RTR] STD deck that I used before it rotated out and I made this deck. I never had the list added to this site until recent and thought it would be good to show this decks origins. It also symbolizes how long I've tried to work with Dega colours and in a Midrange fashion. I don't claim to know it all just been playing it for a while.
Once this deck rotates out, this deck will move into retirement and I will be working on this decks underling, Dawnbreaker's Assault!, so make sure you check it out if you love Dega and all things Midrange!

This is my version of a Dega style deck. Having some strong, hard to deal with creatures backed up with some cruel removal. With the sustain aspect of White, the raw power of Red and the huge amount of removal of Black, these colours shine very brightly together!

~Mainboard~
[ CREATURES ]
Aurelia, the Warleader : Really awesome game finisher. Comes down turn six and if they don't have an answer, they are in for some hurt, coupled with our other creatures like Blood Baron of Vizkopa or Stormbreath Dragon make for a very painful attack phase for them!
Blood Baron of Vizkopa : This guy carries this team on his back. He gives us the life we need to fuel this deck. Powerful 4/4 with lots of protection and evasion.
Boros Reckoner : One of our best defence against Aggro decks and Midrange decks a like. He can be used to get in that last bit of damage we could need by hitting him with Mizzium Mortars
Desecration Demon : Really strong for a 4 drop creature. He helps keep board advantage and is a strong evasive creature.
Mogis, God of Slaughter : A more aggressive version of Desecration Demon and really puts pressure on the opponents and forces them into tough choices and sometimes just punishes them!
Obzedat, Ghost Council : A great creature to have. Very hard to remove and gives us a good amount of life! He is a great beater too and with Whip of Erebos out he becomes a huge threat.
Stormbreath Dragon : If you are playing Red in Midrange deck you can almost guarantee this great creature! Strong, Fast and can even Monstrous him to do more damage!
[ PLANESWALKERS ]
Elspeth, Sun's Champion : Power house of a Planeswalker! Her (+1) Ability gives her some body guards or some blockers for our own face. Her (-3) is a nice last resort board reset. Almost all of our creatures get hit by it so I have to be really certain this is the right move to use it. Her (-7) Ability is the game finisher. If any of our creatures are out with this, they all become game enders.
[ INSTANTS ]
Hero's Downfall : Instant speed Dreadbore makes good things better!
Lightning Strike : Overall great burn for its cost, and at instant speed. Great for small creatures, finishing big creatures, kills planeswalkers if they are low, kills opponents too.
[ SORCERY ]
Dreadbore : Great cheap removal that hits pretty much everything we need it to.
Mizzium Mortars : Great hard removal for tough creatures like Blood Baron of Vizkopa, Stormbreath Dragon. Also acts as a board wipe late game great for taking out armies of Gruul Monsters and decks of the like!
Thoughtseize : Awesome hand disruption. Takes care of threats before they are a problem. Snipe planeswalkers, finishers, anything!.
[ ARTIFACTS ]
Whip of Erebos : Almost a must have in a deck containing Obzedat, Ghost Council. If you can pay for him, you can pay for the whip! Really good for gaining back life from aggro pressure and our own shocks. Great recursion for our hard to deal with creatures.
~Sideboard~
Anger of the Gods : Very helpful against the aggro decks, and deck utilizing ramping creatures. The only creature it really effects of ours is Boros Reckoner and even then thats not too bad of an idea, he just becomes a bomb!
Circle of Flame
: Takes care of small aggro decks and token decks. This combined with Rakdos Charm make a great pair.
Doom Blade : Hello kill spell! Used mostly for the Midrange match ups and for the Monster Match ups.
Glare of Heresy : More great removal!
Rakdos Charm : Great for small token, and aggro decks. Works really well with
Circle of Flame
to pretty much tax them for having too many creatures. Awesome for taking care of cards that wish to abuse graveyards.
Revoke Existence : Awesome Artifact removal that can deal with problem cards like Scuttling Doom Engine, Darksteel Citadel and Soul of New Phyrexia!
