I'm considering removing one kadeen for an extra land. I'm seeming to have a little trouble with mana in my opening hand. Thoughts or suggestions?

February 21, 2012 4 p.m.

Land doesn't look like a huge issue for your deck, with 6 zero cost cards(memnite and mox opal) you shouldn't need much land. Plus you have 4 spheres. What I would do is cut your mountains down to 4 or 5 and add more plains.

But I will test out etched champion vs porcelain legionnaire too see what fits better.

The only reason I prefer the champion is that he doesn't fall to Gut ShotMTG Card: Gut Shot

side board suggestions:

3x Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb: Its an artifact that destroys token/delver strategies

3x Shrine of Loyal Legions MTG Card: Shrine of Loyal Legions : This card is resistant to board clears (so u/b control and wolf run ramp)

3x Revoke ExistenceMTG Card: Revoke Existence: This or your favorite artifact removal of choice (wurmcoil engine or swords)

2x Sword of Feast and FamineMTG Card: Sword of Feast and Famine

2x Sword of War and PeaceMTG Card: Sword of War and Peace

The swords are there because they are flat out amazing cards. They are not needed particularly if you can't afford them, but if you have them, I would probably put them in.

oh and almost forgot, another 2 DispatchMTG Card: Dispatch in board seems pretty good, sorry about forgetting 2 slots. These are only suggestions, if you disagree go ahead and change the cards around.

February 21, 2012 6:45 p.m.

I like the suggestions for the sb. I I'm thinking for using the Grafdigger's CageMTG Card: Grafdigger's Cage instead of Ratchet BombMTG Card: Ratchet Bomb since it'd bad for me as well. I had F&F but will have W&P in the SB. The main thought is 2 DispatchMTG Card: Dispatch or 2 Oblivion RingMTG Card: Oblivion Rings?

I don't think ratchet bomb actually affects you that much, you seem to have a varied array of cmcs and not too much of a concentration at 0. Also, Cage would be a good card in SB, but how is it helping you beat token decks?

February 21, 2012 6:57 p.m.

Well I'm basing not using the bomb on what play I've done with the deck. A turn 3 bomb usually hits 4 permanents (counting tokens from Master's CallMTG Card: Master's Call) about 60% of the time. Once again, this is one if those things I'll have to playtest with

hey man, you've gotten a lot of attention, i didn't read all the comments (I'll be honest) but through the glimpse I took, no one mentioned what I have been trying to do.

Now, I don't know how invested you are in the idea of keeping this Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel driven, but Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue is SO good in this type of deck. The fact that you can attack with everything, have battle-cry, and have Jor Kadeen, the PrevailerMTG Card: Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer's metalcraft effect is out of control. I honestly thing with this deck, since there isn't any trample effects, or cannot be blocked effects, Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue and some living weapons could make you a scary opponent. People in standards are saying that a turn three two 1/1 souls is good and a turn 4 flashed back for 1B is good. I say a turn 3 Flayer HuskMTG Card: Flayer Husk and MortarpodMTG Card: Mortarpod giving you 2 creatures, with vigilance, one is a 2/2 the other is a 1/2 and they can be paid for in any color! Plus the benefit that if you move the equipment to something else, you still get the 1/1 Germ token that has vigilance.

plus its still working towards metalcraft, and a little more effort on the red side of things makes this deck killer. I'll admit, I have been preaching about HellriderMTG Card: Hellrider since the DKA release, and I will continue to do so here. Think about the possibilities this deck could have given that 70% of the creature have vigilance, they have the power to (with the help of Jor Kadeen, the PrevailerMTG Card: Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer) bash the opponent turn after turn while attacking each turn wit as many as you can to get in that direct damage with HellriderMTG Card: Hellrider.

I could see if you don't want to go this route, but goblin tokens with myr tokens will always be tougher, faster and scarier than the likes of the spirits in this set. if you don't try and or you just don't like it, try out Avacyn's CollarMTG Card: Avacyn's Collar, it would give Jor Kadeen, the PrevailerMTG Card: Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer vigilance as well, and if he happens to die you get a creature out of it lol.

+1 from me, because I do really like this deck. It has potential. I'll try to get my list up, but I'm in the works on finalizing what stays and what goes and I don't have a full sideboard yet. Good luck!

I like the Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel. If I played more tokens Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue would Be absolutely amazing. I thought about using Flayer HuskMTG Card: Flayer Husk but once the germ dies, I lose the creature. I love your idea of the HellriderMTG Card: Hellrider. What would You recommend replacing for him? I'm planning on trying the tempered route right now and see how that goes. Thanks for the input and +1!

Origin SpellbombMTG Card: Origin Spellbomb is a better draw card imo. With that you can ditch 3 Desperate RavingsMTG Card: Desperate Ravings and 2x Master's CallMTG Card: Master's Call grab 4 Origin SpellbombMTG Card: Origin Spellbomb and 1x Faithless LootingMTG Card: Faithless Looting. Also, where are the Inkmoth NexusMTG Card: Inkmoth Nexus's at? whats a temp steel deck without them :)

February 28, 2012 12:33 p.m.

I wish I still had my inkmoths. I traded a set for 2 W&P. That was before I built this deck though. I like the Master's CallMTG Card: Master's Call in the deck since it gives two artifact creatures. I've been debating on the draw though. I've thought about the spellbomb. I'll have to playtest with It and Faithless LootingMTG Card: Faithless Looting. The only concern with that card it discarding two cards. I'll have to try it and see how it works in comparison to the ravings. Thanks for the input!

February 28, 2012 1:58 p.m.

So I've made a change or two and added a SB. Its still a work in progress so any input in the SB would be greatly appreciated. Also if anyone has a chance to playtest the deck and let me know any inconsistencies that are found or things that mat just seem out of place. Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions, veiws, and +1s!

Puresteel PaladinMTG Card: Puresteel Paladin + Jor Kadeen, the PrevailerMTG Card: Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer = Best friends. Just throwing that out there.

Also, you need Swords. Without them, there's really no point in not running a Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel deck instead.

March 2, 2012 1:56 p.m.

I have W&P but sold my F&F. I thought about using Puresteel PaladinMTG Card: Puresteel Paladin and more equipment, but I'll probably make that a new deck entirely. I just don't use enough equipment. The two together would make for quite a deadly combo, especially if paired with Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue and living weapoms

I don't know about Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue, but having access to Red in a Puresteel deck opens up new doors to things like Bludgeon BrawlMTG Card: Bludgeon Brawl and whatnot.

March 2, 2012 2:07 p.m.

Interesting concept you suggest there. I like the idea. Looks like I may have a new project. Thanks zandi. Any suggestions for what I have here? On another note, loved the elf deck you made. Have my own version that I use with friends

If you make more of a token deck give mine a look deck:kemba-and-friends-1. It's fun to play and even [[ ratchet bomb doesn't mess with it too much.

Thanks. If I do that I will definitely see what You have

Well, first of all, +1 for playing Jor Kadeen, the PrevailerMTG Card: Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer. I would +2 you for making a deck around him, but unfortunately, I cannot.

Anyway, I run a very different type of Kadeen deck, my deck focuses on double strike to capitalize on the +3/+0 bonus. Here's a link to my deck: Kadeen's Prevailing Crusaders.

I would DEFINITELY play Origin SpellbombMTG Card: Origin Spellbomb over Desperate RavingsMTG Card: Desperate Ravings. It works great in any Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel deck, and helps with your artifact count for metalcraft. I would also take out your two Master's CallMTG Card: Master's Call's for another Etched ChampionMTG Card: Etched Champion and another Porcelain LegionnaireMTG Card: Porcelain Legionnaire to help with your consistency.

@Wittee: there are better decks to play that crazy strategy with, a good example is this deck that uses both Tempered SteelMTG Card: Tempered Steel and Intangible VirtueMTG Card: Intangible Virtue: deck:masters-tempered-virtue.

Good luck with this build!

You need more Master's CallMTG Card: Master's Calls in this build along with more aggro creatures...Vault SkirgeMTG Card: Vault Skirge is great here...also Maxamise your Desperate RavingsMTG Card: Desperate Ravings no need for the Sphere of the SunsMTG Card: Sphere of the Suns here that "gets there"

It's a really great idea for a deck though

+1

try using Jor Kadeen, the PrevailerMTG Card: Jor Kadeen, the Prevailer in a Myr deck with a Myr BattlesphereMTG Card: Myr Battlesphere and opponents will just scratch their heads after...

March 11, 2012 1:11 a.m.

I've still got a good bit of testing to do between the spellbomb and the ravings. So far the ravings has served me better than the spellbomb at digging past stuff I don't need, but I like the token. I'm not sure about dropping my Master's CallMTG Card: Master's Call since I get two 1/1 (3/3) for 3 mana. I'll have to do more testing. If anyone tests the deck, let me know some results! Thanks for the +1's!
