Kage Bunshin no Jutsu: Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery

Appropriately, a "copy" of biomaster10's Riku Christmas Commander that he gave me for Christmas 2017. Thank you!

biomaster10's original description of Riku Christmas Commander

Imitation they say, is the greatest form of flattery. Then if is the case, your opponents should be feeling very good about themselves as you defeat them by using their own creatures against them. The deck also abuses enter the battle field effects with artifacts like "Crystal Shard" and "Panharmonicon".The main goal of is deck is to copy spells, them make copies of the copies. This is done by Riku of Two Reflections's inbuilt copying ability and a toolbox of clone cards. Though the deck does contain two main win cons.

First is the Biovisionary Win. You cast "Biovisionary" and copy it with Riku's ability, then you cast a "Clone"/Shapeshifter card targeting "Biovisionary" then copy it with Riku's ability. During your upkeep you win the game, this is made easier by giving your cards flash.

The Second is the Splinter Twin win. First control a creature that has the ability: when this card enters the battlefield tap or untap target creature ("Bounding Krasis", "Pestermite", "Deceiver Exarch"). Then enchant the creature with "Splinter Twin". Create a million hasted tokens then win.

The deck itself is very mana-greedy so there are many ramp instants and sorceries in the deck, also the extremely fun "Zendikar Resurgent" which doubles the mana your lands tap for and has an inbuilt draw effect. So go ahead copy as many spells as you can and enjoy the Temur side.

Deck breakdown:

  • 9 clone cards

  • 4 tap/untap cards

  • 38 lands and 16 mana acceleration cards

  • 6 draw cards

  • 11 targeted removal cards

  • 2 boradwipes

  • 2 recursion cards

Deck upgrades

This deck is very open ended to upgrading as it can focus on the extremes of being a politicky group hug deck with cards like "Collective Voyage" and "Expropriate" or very combo oriented with cards like "Palinchron" and "Omniscience". So its up to you where you take the deck.

Cards I would suggest that are good in general for the deck are things to protect Riku like "Asceticism", "Darksteel Plate" and "Lightning Greaves".

Cards that interact with tokens like "Parallel Lives", "Primal Vigor" and "Second Harvest" the latter of which can be copied by Riku to hilarious effects. Or if you have $$$ "Doubling Season".

Other good additions would add to the Splinter Twin combo like "Impact Tremors", "Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker" and "Purphoros, God of the Forge".

A few genral good stuff additions include "Cyclonic Rift", "Eternal Witness", "Krosan Grip" and "Mirage Mirror".
