Contagion Clasp and Contagion Engine and Volt Charge are really your only viable proliferate options.

ZombieCat: Land Tax is already in the deck, but I will see if I can add the Lotus. Thank you for the suggestions. :)

LittleBlueHero: That is true. :/ What would you take out for them? I would've removed the Kaldra set, but I need the Helm's trample ability.

I'd look for ways to reduce the casting cost of the fatties. Pearl Medallion and Ruby Medallion come to mind.

Battlegrace Angel would give an experience counter and trigger exalted and lifelink.

Some decent 5-drop creatures (which may or may not fit the theme of the deck):

Archangel of Thune - can buff your whole army and your life total

Stormbreath Dragon - used to be a bajillion dollars in Standard, so it must be good.

Wingmate Roc - what white aggro deck doesn't love tokens?

Thundermaw Hellkite - clear the field of those pesky fliers

Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker - hey, some of these creatures are good. Why not make two of them?

Karmic Guide - gets stuff out of your graveyard and onto the battlefield where it belongs.

Pulmonic Sliver - you can recur it if it dies.

Karn, Silver Golem - blow up mox stones. Attack with your Sol Ring . The possibilities are endless.

Ingot Chewer (could actually be cast for 1) - cheap removal which actually counts as a 5 CMC creature.

Reveillark - probably not as many targets in this deck as the average white aggro deck, but probably also combos with Karmic Guide

Sunscorch Regent - combos with Archangel of Thune . Plus it can get ridiculously large and gain you ridiculous amounts of life.

Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran - casting just this and your commander would = 12 points commander damage per attack.

Flamerush Rider - can dash in for 4 mana, over and over and over again. Same with Sprinting Warbrute

Oh, and you might consider Rogue's Passage if you want the commander to get through.

Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs - potentially an army in a can, if anyone is foolish enough to hit you back.

Psychosis Crawler - if so, maybe throw in some Wheel of Fortune type spells for card draw.

Hero of Goma Fada - makes your army indestructible the turn it comes into play. .

Spelltithe Enforcer - if your spells are expensive, why not make everyone else's spells expensive too?

Siege-Gang Commander - no stranger to white-red aggro decks.

Stuffy Doll - can do some hilarious things in white-red, but probably not in this deck. Nevertheless, it can be political. Player A attacks you with his 20/20 creature, and it kills player B. Plus, you're packing a Blasphemous Act .

EDHdad: I didn't add a lot of these. Mostly because I don't see them here. Karmic Guide and Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran are the ones I kept. I might reconsider Battlegrace Angel and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker.

In the "spells cost less" category:

Cloud Key

Helm of Awakening

Planar Gate

Semblance Anvil

Stone Calendar

Situational mana discounts (depending on how deep you are in the relevant tribe):

Ballyrush Banneret

Daru Warchief - Soldiers

Dragonlord's Servant - Dragons

Dragonspeaker Shaman - Dragons

Goblin Warchief - Goblins

Herald of War - Angels / Humans - also triggers the commander's ability.

Mycosynth Golem - artifact creatures

Stinkdrinker Daredevil - Giants

Urza's Filter - Multicolored spells

Urza's Incubator - any chosen creature type

I didn't add any of those. I already got 10+ ways to ramp (not to mention 40 lands). I'm perfectly fine.

Also, Brighthearth Banneret will reduce the cost of Elementals and Warriors if that's relevant to anyone.

I don't expect you to keep all / most / possibly any of these, but this is the first Commander 2015 card which has been spoiled, and yours is the first deck I found for it on Tapped Out, so these are some cards which could possibly be used in other builds.

My suspicion is that the blue and black generals will be more interesting to build because those are the colors which have the better proliferate spells. So basically, every other "Experience Counter" general except the one we've seen.

Phaetion says... #12

That is true. This is the first deck on Tappedout that uses Kalemne, but should I decide to make a primer, I will incorporate most, if not all, of your suggestions into it.

I added two of them to the Other Options section. As for Balefire Liege, it's been on my mind since Kalemne was spoiled, so I'll try to fit in here.

Flamerush Rider and Sprinting Warbrute would be great additions because they dash to evade removal, but their casting costs are NOT changed by the Dash costs, so they would still trigger Experience counters on your commander. Dash does not change CMC of a card.

Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang? Same boost as SoK but withought the high equip cost.

gemyniraptor86: I have too many legendary creatures in the deck right now, meaning I'm not going to get much out of either Flamerush Rider or Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. As for Sprinting Warbrute, I generally prefer Glarewielder, even you only can use evoke it once.

NecroPony: As cool as it is, Tatsumasa's cmc is really high. Not a fan of it here.

It depends how you want to build this. Either way, you should probably pay attention to the "clock". If you're going Voltron, then you need to do 21 points commander damage. A 3/3 double-strike general (if unanswered), will put your opponent on a 4-turn clock.

Whether you cast a card before your general or after your general, you want that card to potentially reduce the clock. A 5-mana vanilla creature will make your general a 4/4 double-strike, and now it's a 3-turn clock. So, that reduces the clock by 1.

A card like Captain of the Watch will trigger an experience counter, plus add 3 soldier tokens, plus pump your general by +1/+1. But after all that, it's still the same 3-turn clock that you had with a generic 5-drop.

A Sword of X-and-Y which pumps your general by +2/+2 will also give you a 3-turn clock. Plus it might provide the evasion you need to actually get through.

From the 5+ drop creatures, I'd look for ones which can reduce the clock by at least 2 turns. Examples: Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran , Balefire Liege , Sunrise Sovereign , Hearthcage Giant . Beyond that, I might look for 5-drop creatures which are extremely useful - Sun Titan , Steel Hellkite and so forth.

I'd also look for 5+ CMC creatures with alternate casting costs - Ingot Chewer can be cast for 1. Glarewielder can be cast for 2. Spitebellows can be cast for 3. But they all count as 5+ CMC creatures.

I'd try very hard to reduce the casting cost of spells. Stinkdrinker Daredevil , Ruby Medallion , Pearl Medallion will each get your commander out a turn early, and might put your other 5-drops into play a turn or two earlier as well.

Beyond that, you might look for unblockability, indestructibility, extra combat steps, cards which increase the amount of damage, hexproof, removal, sweepers, ramp, draw, card selection, etc.

Gisela, Blade of Goldnight would make your commander swing for 16 points of commander damage per turn, but then people might wonder "why isn't she the commander in the first place?"

I already have a number of those either in the deck or the Maybeboard. I'll see about Steel Hellkite and the cost reducers.

Evasion? I saw Loxodon Warhammer, Chariot of Victory, Rogue's Passage, and some conditional evasion in the swords. Not even Whispersilk Cloak? I'm skeptical you'll make it through chump blockers.

Artemis_Swift says... #22

I didn't take notice of how you can "cheat" the experience counters onto Kalemne using the alternate castings of cards and using cards such as Ruby Medallion. It's devious, and I like it lol

Still, I do enjoy my Aurelia, the Warleader. Kalemne might find a spot in my deck.

October 17, 2015 12:11 p.m.

Phaetion says... #23

rco: I thought about the cloak. The problem wit is that it grants shroud, which makes it harder to buff Kalemne up. Now, if it had hexproof, I would've been the village idiot. I'll keep looking, though.

EDIT: Alright, you win. I'll add the cloak.

Artemis_Swift: I'm glad you like it. :) I like Aurelia too, but I wanted to show Kalemne some love.

October 17, 2015 12:18 p.m. Edited.

What I particularly like about this new experience counter mechanic is that the counters are placed on you, not Kalemne. So if Kalemne dies a horrible, flaming death and goes back to your command zone, the next time you cast her, she'll still have the buff because the counters won't go away.

October 18, 2015 12:39 p.m.

This also means that Proliferate effects would work rather well here. Contagion Engine, Contagion Clasp, etc.
