I agree with some of the above comments about Duress and Mind Rot. Personally I think that Dark Deal is a bit chaotic, unless you're already playing from a smaller hand than your opponent you really don't gain advantage. You may want to take a look at Bone Splinters as a cheap removal option, I personally think that card is completely underrated, and if you've already got creatures and tokens intended to be sacrificed anyway, all the better.

Honestly, I just don't like Mind Rot. 3CMC for Sorcery speed discard that gives your opponent a choice on what to discard isn't great. With all the Warriors in the deck (Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, Fleshbag Marauder, Graveblade Marauder), you could make Diplomacy of the Wastes work. Maybe drop Dark Deal for it? Consider swapping Shambling Goblin for Bloodsoaked Champion if you do choose to run it.
There's a lot of cheap discard in the deck and I like that. Being able to pick out your opponent's next few plays or answers to your threats and remove them is challenging, but fun. You should check out your LGS and playtest and let us know how it goes!

I appreciate the advise but I don't really want to spend the money on Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip. She is an awesome card and would be decent in this deck but since her emblem isn't nearly as useful with Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet on the field I don't think she's really worth the money. I've swapped out the two Dark Deal with Read the Bones and I think it'll be a big improvement. Also, I like Bone Splinters a lot but I just already have so much removal in this deck I just can't see myself wanting to swap anything out for it. Definitely want to take this deck to my local FNM because this deck is insanely fun to play but I think I'll wait till I can get my hands on a Sorin. Whenever I do end up going I'll make sure to post an update on how it goes!

Flaying Tendrils will help with any token making decks, and adds the lovely exile bonus for the small creatures. I might drop a Murderous and/or Grasp to the sideboard to add 2 to the mainboard.
Like this deck a lot by the way. I might brew up something similar; if I do, I'll post a link.

You could possibly drop the Graveblade Marauder for Grim Haruspex if you're having trouble with card draw.
And Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet makes this deck so expensive. It sucks that he's being used in every single deck that uses black. T_T

Thanks wingmanJ! if you do end up making a deck similar I'll make sure to check it out. I've thought about adding Flaying Tendrils before but I feel like Languish is just so much more worth in this deck. It's so satisfying to have a Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet out, pump him up once and then wiping the board while getting a zombie army.
Grim Haruspex would be nice but I really like Graveblade Marauder and I think that Read the Bones gives me enough draw power to keep my hand up. It does suck that Kalitas is so expensive but he's only been going up in price so the sooner you can pick him up the better!

Dude this deck screams Infinite Obliteration. Idk if you playtested it in there or not, but it's a great sideboard to take out a Dragonlord Ojutai or any other creature that's a threat. You should put it in.

This deck is what I needed to finish my deck u. Thank you.

Kalitas is still so expensive! 19 Tix per copy. He's the only thing keeping me from buying the deck, cause I know it really needs him. T_T

I completely overlooked Infinite Obliteration so thanks TheHelvault!
That's awesome lidlett, glad I could help.
AzureMage yea I honestly got really lucky with Kalitas by picking him up before the price skyrocketed.

Well, I guess now if as good a time as any to bite the bullet and pick him up. I can't wait to play this deck, I'll update with results after I get some games in.

That's awesome AzureMage, I really hope the deck plays well for you! I'm playing tomorrow in a tournament at my local card shop so I'll post an update soon on how it goes.

Hey, I saw you there yesterday, but we never got a chance to play a game or anything. I wanted to say, when you approach building a deck, consider how your deck will respond to things you expect to play against. Your current list does a fair amount of that, which is pretty impressive. I like where you are going with this, but want to suggest a couple of small tweeks that might help you in the long run.
1) Put some more card draw in your sideboard. 2 more Read the Bones will be fine. These are important cards for matchups that are fine going 1 for 1 with you, then gassing up after (namely control decks, but some midrange decks as well). Read the Bones is excellent in a mono-black shell, and is an incredibly cheap card that will be playable until at least October.
2) Try testing out one or two more creatures. I was shocked at how good those shambling goblins were yesterday (really the first time I have seen them in constructed), but I would suggest you just test some others. Sultai Emissary for example might work better than one of your creatures. I don't know how much testing you have done with these creatures, but it is something to consider. I actually prefer Emissary over Carrier Thrall.
3) I just have to say show up more. It was good to see new people around, and we want you to feel welcome. Your deck is pretty nasty, and will catch people off guard. I am glad to see it. So don't be a stranger.

Shockwave115I like the deck and I don't want to dig too deep into what can be cut or changed without actually testing it myself. I was brought this direction from jrdnhwll who said our decks had a lot of similarities and we could point ideas back and forth.
That being said I'm going to leave two small pieces of advice that I think you may find useful.
You said in the description you want some Dranas. Skip out on Drana, Liberator of Malakir, she is a giant target that rarely sticks on board. I really wanted her to work for my deck but she recently got the boot, so to speak. Drana is just too scary for someone to allow to stick around...and she just dies to removal or creature trades.
Just like I said to jrdnhwll, add in two Sea Gate Wreckage. The card is phenomenal when you start to bleed out cards and stretch into top deck wars. Your mana base can easily support two of this card if not more, and it will just make you're game that much better.

I accidentally posted twice...sorry. Also feel free to drop some knowledge on my deck, Crypt Keeper Control if you see any improvements that can be made.

@ Pthance I have to agree with the Drana, Liberator of Malakir suggestion, but for different reasons. I don't think she seriously adds anything to the deck. A good black finisher, sure, but Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is better. Drana is a good card, and just because people want to focus her doesn't make her bad. Removal happens, creatures die. Drana does ignore Abzan Charm until she hits, and can't be burnt out easily most of the time (now days at least). But I doubt she is worth more than a 1 of.

Thanks jeffthemagicgoat and Pthance! I really enjoyed playing on gameday and I'll definitely be coming back this weekend for the Two-Headed Giant draft. After looking at your deck Pthance I actually really like the idea of swapping out 2 Carrier Thrall for 2 Bearer of Silence. I'm also going to take your advice and throw in 2 Sea Gate Wreckage because I definitely can see the usefulness of that card towards the later stages of a game.

Have you considered adding a Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip or 3? She gives you life link which will help against your aggressive match ups, and her transformed Liliana, Defiant Necromancer has some pretty sweet hand disruption, recursion, and win potential. Not to mention, she synergies really well with your Fleshbag Marauder. (On that same note, it might be worth switching out 1 Fleshbag Marauder for one Merciless Executioner. It is a small change that wont affect how the deck runs, but it makes it SLIGHTLY more efficient against spells that care about name - probably will never come up, but just in case.)
