Karn, Silver Golem Animate High-Cost Artifacts

Commander / EDH

Based_BlackJack

My colorless Karn, Silver Golem deck. Centers mostly around animating artifacts with high mana values. Lots of ways to cheat higher costing artifacts into play with tutor effects and effects that put permanents into the battlefield. Vehicles with mana values greater or equal to their powers have been included in this deck.

Janky Combo/Synergy #1: Activate 'Tormod's Crypt' as needed. Activate 'Buried Ruin' and sacrifice to retrieve 'Tormod's Crypt'. Tap 'Scaretiller' (not hard to do in a deck with Vehicles) and return 'Buried Ruin' to battlefield tapped. Repeat as needed to hose the graveyard player! An alternate version involves using 'Scaretiller' to retrieve 'Urza's Saga' after the saga goes through each time for more tutoring, more Constructs!

Janky Combo/Synergy #2: Activate Karn's ability targetting 'Forsaken Monument'. As a creature it gains +2/+2 due to its own ability and becomes a 7/7 creature.

Janky Combo/Synergy #3: After you've used up all the wish counters on 'Ring of Three Wishes', it can stick around as a 5/5 creature if you animate it!

Update 6/15/2022 - Swapped out 'Cave of Temptation', 'Glimmervoid', and 'Shimmering Grotto' for three Wastes. Reason - Karn has proven to be susceptible to cards like Field of Ruin and Path to Exile, since it had no basic lands. I had included "add one mana of any color" lands due to the existence of 'Void Mirror', which potentially could hose this deck (ironically, nobody I played against used this card for any reason thus far). I still left some of those in the deck due to synergy (Power Depot, and Painted Bluffs).

Update 9/13/2024 - I wanted to thank those who have given feedback on this decklist, your insight is genuinely valued. Yes I'd love to get my hands on Wasteland and a Strip Mine (though I have just slot in a Demolition Field - good for now, right?), maybe one day when I come across a good deal of money to blow on it. Also yes, Akroma's Memorial will be brilliant in this deck, I had thought about it for some time but hadn't committed to the notion as of yet; I'm more serious about getting my hands on one now. Anyway, made some card swaps since my last update. Aether Vial is gone because I thought that card could be used better somewhere else. Also, I've removed the assembly-worker support since the deck doesn't really do much in that regard. The new cards in the list are: Mystic Forge, Mind's Eye, and Palladium Myr. New lands are: Phyrexia's Core, Demolition Field and Tyrite Sanctum.
