Karrthus: Casual + Flavorful (Randomized Dragons)

Slowing breaking down my Scion of the Ur-Dragon deck in favor of a more stream lined Dragon experience. My old deck started out as a 5-color good dragon deck, but quickly became a combo deck that won through combat. Games began to look and feel the same, with the same dragons being tutored every time. I want to go for a more mid-ranged/Control strategy this time!I want this new deck to be as interactive as possible while still being true to dragon flavor. I want to try and emphasize fun 2-3 card interactions and to include some unusual picks for the archetype. I also want to avoid too many overpowered interactions/combos and the tutors that find them (and make each game the same).

I especially love older cards, so if something has an older printing or some nostalgia factor, it will get a bit of special consideration!

This is a work in progress, so please feel free to share some ideas :) especially if you or someone you know runs a Karrthus deck that makes for a good time!

First, regarding the large Sideboard:I've decided to keep an extensive sideboard of every dragon in the three colors, barring a few I don't like, with the intention of randomizing the suite of 20 non Karrthus dragons in the deck between games. This idea might need some refinement, and the number of "random" dragons might need to be adjusted, but I want to keep each game different and this would make each dragon I draw more surprising and fun.

Main Board:

Focus 1: Dragons! My number one concern when building is getting the proportions of the deck correct, so I will do some testing to try and figure out the right number of creatures. Since most of the creatures will be 5 CMC and above, the deck might end up with around 25 creatures, but that is just speculation. Regarding non dragon creatures, I want to try to limit the amount of non-dragon creatures in the deck. I'll include dragon specific support dorks and a couple other creatures that provide specific synergies with the dragons in the deck, but I want to keep mana dorks and value/utility dorks to a minimum. Ramp/fixing will be found mostly in the form of Artifacts and Sorceries.

Edit: I Just brought the number of dragons down to 20 + Karrthus from 24 + Karrthus, and swapped in some big car advantage spells from the Maybe Board. Namely Mind's Eye, Greater Good, Plague Wind and Dragon Roost. This brings the creature count to 24, more in line with what i've seen from creature based control decks.

Focus 2: Interaction! By interaction I am referring to both fun, niche interactions between my dragons and the other cards in the deck, as well as to cards or pairs of cards that lead to fun interactions with other players. I want to avoid synergies that are attractive solely because of raw power or advantage. Playing Descent of the Dragons and then dropping Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund is super powerful, but it's not very interactive and frankly, a little obvious at this point. It would honestly be more fun to let everyone keep their dragons in my opinion. That being said, this isn't a group hug deck, but if I or anyone thinks of a fun, flavorful group hug card, I'd love to give it a shot.

Some interactions and interactive inclusions so far:

1) While not a dragon himself, Bladewing's Thrall is dripping with dragon flavor and has a lot of potential of utility and interaction. However in the current list, I don't feel like I make use of it's recursion quite enough. I'm looking for the right sac outlet for this reason.

2) Since this list is creature heavy, if not by number than at least by casting cost, I chose to include some action in the lands category. Cards like Maze of Ith, Arena and Ice Floe are all "free" removal spells that let me save my mana for sick end-of-turn dragons off the back of Winding Canyons. I am a huge fan of utility lands over utility enchantments or dorks, so I am always trying to squeeze more in. I would like to find space for Miren, the Moaning Well and the money for Diamond Valley. Please share your favorite lands!

Focus 3: Stability > Consistency! Back to trying to fine tune the proportions of the deck, I want to make sure that the deck brings enough removal, board control, ramp and card draw that it can manage to get into the late game comfortably enough to get mileage out of my dragons. I want to have enough removal to prevent other players from going off and becoming non-interactive, but not so much that I can handle everything my opponents throw at me, etc.
