So, FNM last night went decently well. My friend who plays esper danse of doom lent me his landbase (Bless up) and his four teferis and an ashiok, plus a few wishboard components. It went rather well for something that was thrown together very hastily.
The list took out 2 kayas, a baby ashiok and elseths nightmare for three regular teferis and a JP alt art teferi (once again, bless up). I got paired up against aggro players.
Well, almost aggro players. only one was truly an aggressive player, and he won rather fast (Somehow got mana screwed and then outpaced, never got to stabilize).
Match 1: Selesneya or WG setessan champion and enchantments with some decent flying creatures. All very low cost, and the deck ended up being boggles. He won game 1 by a little bit. I had seven life and a dream(Trawler) and he had 5 life and a lot of creatures. I +1 the teferi, swing and he blocks with a flying. Cast a timewipe on his turn after he starts playing creatures.(Bless up tef +1) After that, he swarmed the field faster than i could get my dream trawler to untap. Game 2, I won by a landslide thanks to kaya ult and dream trawler. Game 3 went to turns and ended in a draw.
Match 2 I played against one of the kids I used to go to school with and his golgari undergrowth, polukranos, vraska ass deck. Game 1 there lasted around 50 minutes out of the hour allotted. He made an interesting mistake. I sold him a polukranos for $5 and didnt understand that when he had his polukranos fight my dream trawler, after I tapped it and discarded a card, he could have fought it again before that resolved to kill it. That happened a lot. Like, the judge watching us was moaning every time it happened. Also, early game, he made all of his forests into the 3/3 elementals with nissa, didnt get the ul toff, and then got timewiped after all of them were on the field as creatures. He lost all of his green mana producing lands and couldnt play anything until 4 turns later. anywys, he outpaced me, but kept attacking my Ashiok, Nightmare muse when he couldve been killing me. Im not complaining, but he really could have swung on me like 3 turns earlier and killed me because I had no blockers. Game 1 was his. Game two lasted all of 12 minutes. The judge got a little annoyed because of slow play during turns, but he was making bad decisions and that lead to my goal actually being achieved, I kill someone with kaya. Turn 9 kill with kaya ult. I dont know why I was so happy about it, but that match was also a draw.
Match 3 I won. I played against my friend who was running a monored puphoros devotion deck that I built to counter the esper shenanigans. It worked. He took game one fair and square, His problem though, was the counterspells that I kept running into. I took games 2 and 3 before we hit the 25 minute mark. (Bless up teferi and dreamtrawler is just a little busted.)
match four was a loss for me, but I was playing against gruul aggro but it was really just satyr tribal. Dude was running 19 lands and got more lands than I did running 26. He took game one. I timeiwped a single satyr token. Things were great. I took game 2 because of teferi bouncing enchantments and shit. We went to time but he ultimately won on turn 5 of turns. My only loss.
It was a bad night, but lots of fun. I love the superfriends theme that I had. Also, My friend who lent me the landbase and teferis, also gave me a wishboard. I ran a liliana dreadhorde general, a dreamtrawler, ugin, bolas' citadel, realmcloaked giant, and a few other situational wincons.
I had a lot of fun with the deck, but for some reason I think I want to turn it into a Danse of the Doom Foretold deck but with the superfrineds theme and definitely more of that Elspeth Conquers Death enchantment. Its busted. 5 mana, exile a creature, then it makes no creature spells cost more to cast, then its basically The Eldest Reborn , but in standard and fun. Ill change the mainboard to fit with my list from last night and see how the doom deck comes together.
