Keeping Up With the Joneses

Commander / EDH* Mono-White

ClockworkSwordfish

Maybeboard

Sorcery (2)

We all know that commander is regularly getting crazier and crazier toys to play with. Everyone's ramping up a flurry of lands and drawing boatloads of cards... assuming they're in the right colours, anyway. What's a white player to do in order to keep up with green and blue these days? Fortunately, white is the home to all of the 'catchup' mechanics, which score you a major payoff so long as someone else is outshining you in some way. Newcomer Beza, the Bounding Spring is perhaps the best demonstration of this, not only being a respectable 4/5 for 4 but also checking four different areas where you could use a boost. You'll never fall behind again!

Not convinced? Think of it this way: you have two possible states you can exist in -

1. You're Winning. All right! You're currently winning! No problem at all!

2. You're Losing. Sounds bad, but hey - now all of your cards kick into overdrive, giving you huge value for their costs. Because of that... soon you'll be winning! It's a foolproof scenario.
