This deck revolves around reanimation either through the means of direct return or the commander's unearth ability. Every creature within the decklist is present due not only for its potential castability but mainly their returnability with ETB effects or win conditions.

Because of the playgroup this deck frequently finds itself in games with, there are also quick comboes to close out games that have dragged too long. An example is Doomsday and Laboratory Maniac paired with draw effects such as Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur or Whispering Madness.

Another significant play that has appeared quite often is a T1 Entomb followed by a subsequent Animate Dead or Reanimate of extremely powerful creatures such as Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, or It That Betrays.
