Cheap equipment = many cats.

It has taken me forever to get around to posting it, but this is actually the first commander deck I made (although it obviously looks fairly different these days). The idea was to escape the voltron equipment builds which were very common for Kemba, Kha Regent (she was one of the most popular white commanders on EDHREC.com at the time, there being few other equipment-focused commanders) and play to her actual strength - go-wide tokens. As such, a lot of the equipment is junk with vague utility, notable only for the fact it is cheap to cast and equip. There is some more expensive equipment (both in terms of mana value and actual cost), especially that which keeps Kemba alive (as she is so integral to the deck actually doing anything), but this is also the home for a fair bit of draft chaff. All that said, there has been some great cheap voltron equipment recently, so its definitely still a possible win condition with this deck.

Strategy:

  1. Get Kemba out as quickly as possible. Several of the mana rocks (e.g. Jeweled Amulet) are chosen specifically because they can get a three-mana commander out on turn 2 (add a Mox Diamond if you are really committed).

  2. Get Kemba suited up with as much equipment as possible as soon as possible. Start generating cats!

  3. Keep Kemba alive! A good portion of the equipment and some of the creatures (e.g. Mother of Runes) are there for this purpose.

  4. Overwhelm your opponents with cats. Most flavourful mechanism: Dragon Throne of Tarkir. Most conventional mechanism: Eldrazi Monument. Single cat hardmode: Darksteel Plate+Worldslayer. There are a few backup voltron options which otherwise fit the strategy: Sigil of Valor, Stoneforge Masterwork and Horn of Valhalla. Relatedly, see Rogue's Passage.

Disclaimer: this deck is not good. It can have immensely explosive starts where you just empty your hand on turn 1, but like most white decks struggles with ramp and card draw. Even where everything is going okay on that front (and they do keep printing better cards for it), its strategy is incredibly obvious and fragile, and early setbacks can be fatal. Speed is your ally, and there are quite a few tutors to try and help get what you need as quickly as possible. Even with all those faults, it was my first deck, and I refuse to dismantle it or change its strategy/commander. The challenge of mono-white and Kemba specifically is also why it was so fun to build!

Upgrades: check every new set for cheap equipment. If it has some kind of useful effect (especially protective or card advantage related) it's worth considering, and there is already a huge pool of largely interchangeable cheap artifacts with sort of useful effects depending on the needs of your meta. Keep an eye out for white/colourless cards which ramp or draw cards, but always keep the other eye on your equipment count when swapping things out, and remember most things need to stay fairly low to the ground in terms of mana value (there have actually been so many new card-drawing creatures for token strategies in white recently that I wonder if some of them should come out for more equipment or ramp). There are probably a few good cards in recent sets that I have missed entirely. Suggestions welcome!
