I don't see that Expedite will do much for you other than to trigger prowess. My gut-feel is that Lightning Beserker would provide more attacking options, but I also like Clutch of Currents or Mist Intruder in this position.

What about 2 Chandra, Fire of Kaladesh  Flip and 4 Reckless Bushwhacker. Bushwhackers can swing for a lot of damage.

Imaging curving Monastery Swiftspear into Stormchaser Mage into Fiery Impulse their blocker and Reckless Bushwhacker for an 8 point life swing, putting them on nine life (after you attacking with Stormchaser Mage and Monastery Swiftspear on the first two turns. You could win the very next turn by Exquisite Firecraft and an attack!

Malvion...

Why is Reckless Bushwhacker so good?

Elusive Spellfist instead of Mage ring bully

It synergises really well with a lot of one drop spells.

I've tested it in this aggro deck: Munda's Budget R/W Allies and it's literally the best card in the deck. It allows for huge life point swings, and the haste is very useful for more damage.

You're opponent can have their life total halved by the Bushwhacker. It's surge also triggers if the first spell is countered, as it works on cast.

Overall, it's just a very good aggro card.

They are likely recommending the bushwaker because he works with the idea of low cost spells and steroids your board and offers haste to the creatures that don't have it built in. He is a solid card overall but I don't think his home is in this deck unless you were to use spells like Dragon Fodder to help you go wider and trigger prowess.

I do like the one persons suggestion for the Elusive Spellfist. You can control when he attacks easier and he gains unblockable for any non-creature spell. This means you can use slip through on a different creature and have two unblockable creatures.

Keep an eye out for new prowess common in the new set. Might be worth using. Cost 1 of anything+1 Red for a 1/3 prowess creature.

Best of luck with the deck. Like the build overall.

I was buying sleeves for this deck, and Reckless Bushwhackers were only 42p, so I bought four and i'll test it with them (against you!)...

Hahahaha :)

(Please don't, I hate playing against Bushwhacker. It's so hard to recover after a good 'whacking.)

And a good 'whacking your deck shall have!

I am considering Elusive Spellfist, but the 2 reasons I do not have it already is:

  1. It's 'prowess-style' ability does not give a toughness boost

  2. It is only 1 power. The extra 1 damage from Mage-Ring Bully makes a surprisingly big difference...

Thanks for the support!

I can understand why you are hesitant with the card because its not true prowess. But the reason that doesn't matter compared to 2 power is because it becomes unblockable from any non-creature spell cast. That is the main reason behind using it. Also the fact that you can control when you attack, because sometimes you don't have a spell in hand to steroid the bully and have to watch him run to his death. Then again its just my preference to be able control my combat situations. Hope the deck works out for you.

For sideboard you need Wild Slash because the extra damage to the face is extremely helpful sometimes. Also i personally like Boiling Earth for the sideboard against tokens and aristocrats. Radiant Flames is good also.

Have you thought about Sparkmage's Gambit as almost an additional Slip Through Space or Temur Battle Rage (I know it's cycling out, but for the few weeks we still have it that card can be absolutely devastating.)

You putting in any SOI yet or waiting for release? Also sorry if you don't look at spoilers...Thing in the Ice. I think it'd fit better than Bully; it'll slow you down a bit, maybe a turn, but provide some mid-late game usage if it isn't killed off right away.

Cool deck, +1

Nice deck, upvoted :-)

Like the user above one of the spioilers came directly to my mind. I won't spoilt it, but I feel that something strange hidden in the ancient ice could be helpful :-)

I have a similar build to this, which I know you've already taken a gander at.

I like this a lot. It's a bit fresher than some of the other stale Prowess builds.

I applaud your use of Mage-Ring Bully.

I had Jori En, Ruin Diver in my build but took her out for Jhessian Thief and I've never looked back.

Not sure if that would suit your deck but thought I'd mention it.

+1 from me.

PS. Custom categories rock!

Thanks, I was considering taking Jori En, Ruin Diver out as well. It seems a bit clunky, given that it doesn't even guarantee a card draw...

March 12, 2016 3:18 p.m.

Argy says... #22

It can be a lot of energy to get card draw out of Jori En.

The deal breaker for me was the fact that she doesn't have Prowess.

So many times I had her on the field but couldn't get any more juice out of her.

I know what you mean, it can be a bit disappointing when it's P/T just stays constant, while your other creatures are getting bigger and bigger from your removal...

Sweatygooch Thanks for the comment!

I tried spellfist, but I don't use it for 2 reasons:

It has only 1 power

It's ability doesn't give a toughness boost
