I am not a fan of the Village Messenger  Flip for this deck design. Sure he is a 1/1 that can flip into a 2/2 with menace. But he seems like he will be more often stuck in the 1/1 position more often then not. Lightning Berserker might be a better option for this slot. The creature can be dropped as a first turn threat and can be dashed in latter points of the game and still be relevant because of its fire breathing effect. Since most of your mana base can generate red mana The fire breathing effect can be rather potent. The dash mechanic can also be very useful in this format since people seem to be running more sorcery speed removal that can't hit your creature because it will be in your hand unless you hard cast it.

Been enjoying the deck design overall. Hope it works out for you.

MrIzzetMage

Thanks for the comment!I am considering Thing in the Ice  Flip...

I agree with your argument for Lightning Berserker mainly, however I will test both and see..!

Just remembered another reason the dash cards can be useful for the deck. Using the dash counts as casting a spell. This is good for pairing with your surge card Reckless Bushwhacker. I understand if it doesn't make the final cut. Just wanted to make sure this useful tidbit isn't overlooked when playing the card.

I would say use Elusive Spellfist over the messenger.

Have you considered Fevered Visions over Expedite?

Fevered Visions is a bit of a double edge sword. Like running in old days Howling Mine. Its a nice card, but one must always be careful because you may help your opponent get their answer cards faster. The reason I would advise against is that the decks 2 prowess creatures would want Expedite, not for the haste, but for the chain casting to burst your opponent.

like mrmatt91 says you should definitely use Elusive Spellfist in your deck.I think Village Messenger  Flip is a good T1. But maybe less Abbot of Keral Keep can be better.

Would adding Highland Lake be too slow for such an aggressive deck?

I'm in the process of editing the deck I posted above. This is in no small part to reading about your success.

I'm not sure, but I have never had any issue with land in this deck, and that's without the highlands...

So are you going to add some cards into this deck when EMN comes in. I believe there are some really good instant and sorcery support in the set. Im probably going to get this deck when kaladesh comes in because its prob going to have a strong izzet theme. +1

I would side board "Displacement Wave" for G/W tokens. Can any tell me the mana cost for tokens?...

TMNT-CoWaBuNgA. Mana cost for tokens is 0

July 15, 2016 8:01 a.m.

That is correct so pay zero for X and wipe a token field out for 2 blue.
