Izzet Burn/Control deck
Been running this deck on MTGO and I've been doing pretty well, and now with the release of JOU, Keranos, God of Storms and Spite of Mogis make it so much stronger.
And without further ado...
CREATURES
Keranos, God of Storms*- I've been waiting for this guy, his ability to just punish other players is great, and getting rid of useless land pulls mid-game is invaluable.
Spellheart Chimera- Since this deck is based off of using instants and sorceries, what better choice than a flying trampler that gains strength the more you punish your foes
Oracle of Bones- such a fun card in this deck, either they pay the tribute, because they don't know what you have, and you have a 5/3 with haste on the field smacking them in the face. Or, you get a free spell hitting them anyways.
SPELLS a.k.a. THE FUN PART
Swan Song- a good early game card to stop annoying cards such as Thoughtseize or Duress and then you can just burn the token with Searing Blood to hurt them some more
Magma Jet- Nice early burn with some scry
Searing Blood- great burn, and you gotta make sure it kills them to deal the extra damage to the face :)
Shock- one drop burn, what's the downside?
Spite of Mogis- nice for killing fatties and late game creatures since it burns for how many spells are in your graveyard, and look, Scry!
Syncopate- always a reliable counter when they try to tap all their mana for power creatures
Dissolve- the standard counter with scry, always useful
Steam Augury- Love this card, it's so underrated. Four drop that helps me get the cards I need to progress with my torture, and also adds to Spellheart Chimera and Spite of Mogis
Cyclonic Rift- Board Clearer to help keep yourself safe or let your guys swing through, but like they have trouble with that?
THE ALMIGHTY IZZET LORD
Ral Zarek- It seems like most people under estimate this guy. His versatility is amazing, he can tap down their creatures to help swing through or stay safer and untaps mana with his +1. Burns an opponent or their creature for 3 with his -2. And you'd be surprised how many times I've gotten his Ultimate in this deck and gotten 2+ extra turns just to see my opponent concede.
Sideboard
Tidebinder Mage- against those red/green aggro decks that have been popping up, this guys invaluable.
Wild Ricochet- use this against any mono deck with awesome results. Catch a Thoughtseize and use it against them, or hit them with a double burn of your own
Peak Eruption- shuts down RDW and rakdos decks for the burn :)
Nivmagus Elemental- really good choice against control, if they try and counter my spells, I have the option to exile them and pump him up beat them down. (Thanks TEGHabibird for the idea)
Essence Scatter- Another good card against aggro decks, use it on their Desecration Demon or Pack Rat or any god and laugh as they start crying
