First off, Steam Augury is a bit too unreliable in my opinion. You may want to consider some safer card draw, even if it's just in the form of Divination . If you like the instant speed, go for Inspiration or Opportunity .

I'm also not a huge fan of Molten Birth . Three mana for two 1/1's seems like a bit much, especially at sorcery speed. The fact that it might come back to your hand helps, but that's still gonna be another three mana you've gotta pay to crank it out. It's kinda cool if it interacts with Young Pyromancer but I think you could benefit more from something else. Maybe just something as simple as Lightning Strike ? Or Counterflux as some more control magic that triggers Young Pyromancer and gives you an additional instant in the graveyard. I think I would also try running at least one more Mizzium Mortars as it controls the board pretty well.

the Steam Augury works fine for card draw plus it works well with Spellheart Chimera . I also have other card draw like Azorius Charm .

I like having the Molten Birth in here for now since i haven't tested it much but i will think about the cards you suggested.

The best way to feed Spellheart Chimera , and Guttersnipe , for what it's worth, is low drop spells. Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius and Melek, Izzet Paragon are too mana-inefficient and slow down your win-con. I'd consider running Goblin Electromancer and even Nivix Cyclops , because they will do more work for you. I'd also consider running just Izzet, but I like your spells with White in the cost. Your scry is great, because it helps you manipulate your deck, but with Spellheart and Guttersnipe, you want to use those cards. Low-drop card draw is super-effective. Quicken is a must-have cantrip and Inaction Injunction draws a card and slows down your opponent. I also like Dissolve better than Counterflux , it has the benefit of more scry.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was messing with the deck a little bit last night and i forgot to update the deck online.

I agree that i should use cards with low mana costs so i can cast more a turn with my creatures on the field. At the moment i don't think i need Goblin Electromancer because most of the cards in here are 2 drops or less with the seven 4 drops in the deck.

I don't want to have to wait for my opponent to cast stuff to make my cards effective so at the moment I'm not running any just counter spells, i might try using some Mizzium Skin for a cheap way to keep my creatures alive.

I like the deck, but could definitely make use of Spite of Mogis . Also, it seems to crumble to spot removal.

Check out my list, Spell Slinging Chimera Tempo. I went a for a different approach that made me a little more resilient to them just picking the Chimera out of my hand or killing it once they untap.

Used to play UR Spellheart, up until the release of BotG when I switched to UWR control. I would suggest making Spellheart and Pyromancer a full set, as well as steam augury. Spellheart is your wincon, Pyromancer is amazing at stalling the board, and augury fills both your hand and your yard to buff your Spellheart. Look at cutting some charms for the slots.

I suggest making this an aggro deck centered around heroic and cheap instants and using the chimera as a finisher after your heroic cards get removed. I have a deck thats similar to the idea Hipster American Aggro. It doesn't use the chimera but after thinking about it, it would fit in nicely if I moved a few things around

Gaffa I like your deck idea but one of the main things I'm trying to do with this deck is make a instants and sourcerys deck with a few creatures that help with that by having effects that get triggered by casting the other spells or having the creature get better the more I cast instants and sourcerys. Thanks for the suggestion though I might try that as a different deck.

ok and thank you :). I do like your deck as well maybe a Satyr Firedancer would help more than the Young Pyromancer though. That way you could take out some of the charms for faceburn spells and kill creatures with one spell. Just an idea.

The pyromancer is another win con plus the charms can help in lots of different ways. I might try the firedancer but I don't think its going to be in the deck at fnm's.

Well you said you wanted a suggestion so Epic Experiment would be a good card I think to put in there.

But what do I take out and why?

June 1, 2014 10:58 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #18

cut Warleader's Helix , it is much too expensive for this deck.

June 2, 2014 3:01 a.m.

RosstheELF says... #19

So far with the testing I've done helix helps to much for getting that last bit of damage or romoving a threat plus the life gain has saved me multiple times. So at the moment Im going to keep them in.

If I took them out what would you have me replace them with.

June 2, 2014 1:50 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #20

I would cut two of them and replace them with either a pair of Epic Experiment to fill your graveyard, or one Epic Experiment and one Negate mainboard with an extra of each in the side.

Why negate?

June 2, 2014 2:23 p.m.

PlattBonnay says... #22

2 reasons. First, control decks are very relevant right now, and negate hits almost all of their cards. Second, you are trying to build around Spellheart Chimera and doing damage with it so most of the spells you are going to want to be countering are going to be kill spells, all of which Negate can counter.

June 2, 2014 2:28 p.m.

RosstheELF says... #23

i can counter the spells with Izzet Charm or i can bounce my guy if its attacking or blocking or i can make it indestructible with Boros Charm .

If i wanted to keep my spell heart safe wouldn't Mizzium Skin be better?

June 2, 2014 2:37 p.m.

RosstheELF says... #24

this is the deck at the moment.

I could try an Epic Experiment instead of the Aurelia's Fury .
