Maybeboard

1v1 Kess build with a focus on fast cheap spells and winning with a consultation type combo, or controlling the board while smashing in for 21 Commander dmg with Kess herself.

I've removed the Scepter/Reversal combo, as I like this deck slimmed out with less mana rocks. I still kept the best of the best in, but don't need to lose 4 slots to Talisman's and Signets besides Arcane Signet. I may revert back if it seems worthwhile, but for now at least, the Consultation combo and it's win pieces (LabMan, Oracle, Jace) seems more reliable and easier to do with more cheap control spells in the deck in place of the rocks.

You'll maybe notice that I'm not running Dockside, so in turn I've chosen to omit Mox Opal. If I re-add the lesser mana rocks, and add Dockside in, it may be worthwhile.. but really we want to put pressure on our opponent with Kess nice and early. Let them waste counters and removal on her. Then use a little bit of hand stripping from the few black hand disruption spells, and run the Consultation combo when you can safely cast without being interrupted. If that gets stopped, it's always still possible to: A) win with 21 from Kess, B) Timetwist and attempt a rerun of your combo, C) if combo rerun is thwarted again, there's a good chance you can still win with Kess, or even do enough draw to trigger the Pyromancer to burn for all 30 life. The deck is very well rounded and flexible, yet tuned tightly for a commander or combo win.

My main opponent plays Geist, and with free 4/4 angels swinging at me all the time while up against a U/W deck full of control, I really needed to be able to snag the angels, or remove them with something like Fatal Push. If Kess is out early enough, they'd need to waste removal on her to swing in with the Geist, and that wastefulness plus our hand stripping and sly timing of our plays can completely overwhelm them to run out of answers.

Kess is removable, but too tough for a bolt or shock.. and while she's on the field we can recast some of our best spells that we have already cast. Very hard to run out of answers. If they suppress Kess, go for your combo. If they try to stop you combo, keep buying bakc control cards and keep thinning their hand until you can toss equipment on Kess and end the game.
