This deck has a simple goal, kill your opponents with either Comet Storm or Torment of Hailfire. The problem with Torment of Hailfire is that no one likes to lose to this card because the only way to prevent it from resolving is with a Counterspell.

The easiest way to assemble this combo is to use Intuition to grab Past in Flames, Torment of Hailfire & Increasing Vengeance. Giving your opponent the choice of which goes into your hand works in the same way Gifts Ungiven in storm works, it doesn't matter really what they put in your hand because of Past in Flames. Putting Increasing Vengeance in the hand is a pain in the ass, but with lands like Geier Reach Sanitarium it becomes less of a problem if it's done on someones end step.

You're looking to have a Torment of Hailfire happen 24 times. the way to do this is by copying it 2 or 3 times. The reason for 24 is because:

x14 accounts for 42 life

x21 accounts for 42 life and 7 cards in hand

x24 accounts for 42 life, 7 cards and few permanents.

The math will vary with each game but 24 from my experience has been the magical number to get. The fun to win with this deck is with Comet Storm for that much less needed salt.

Fun cards I wanna mention:

Rakdos Charm - This is to hate out those pesky Meren decks or any graveyard recursion.

Volcanic Offering & Incendiary Command - These cards are specifically to hate out certain lands like Maze of Ith and Reliquary Tower or any of those Itlimoc, Cradle of the Sun that seem to be running around now.

Notion Thief - Coupling this with a wheel effect is plain nasty and will gather all the hate from the table, what is more fun is mixing him with Geier Reach Sanitarium ya know, to be kind.

Fiery Confluence & Vandalblast - Are here for decks who like to run alot or essentially go infinite with artifacts, just a nice way to keep them quiet.

Forbid - This has become my favourite counterspell in Magic, Kess unfortunately can only use spells during your turn, so counter magic is really a terrible choice for her. I see alot of decks on EDHREC using counterspells but Forbid is the only recursive spell in the deck.

Silumgar's Command & Crosis's Charm - These are mostly for Enchantments and Planewalkers. Grixis has a hard time dealing with enchantments and you'll always end up two for one yourself trying to remove an enchantment, removing a key Planeswalker from someone always helps.

Sunbird's Invocation - This has become my favourite card from Ixalan. It's primarily a ramp card in this deck, but getting some sweet spells off the top in the mid game is great, sometimes you'll even get to copy a spell or just gain so much value. If it survives a rotation, you're in for such a good time.

Now the last bit I want to mention is my choice of tutors that aren't Intuition:

Gamble - This is my favourite bad tutor to use, in this deck it really isn't a downside because you're fine having spells in your graveyard, just don't count on a good game if you get anything that isn't an instant or sorcery since accidentally discarding your artifacts or enchantments, well you got no way to recur them.

Shred Memory - I really enjoy 'dirty' tutors, and this is a good one, it's primarily there to find Torment of Hailfire, but it does help find one of the 12+ 2 drop spells in the deck. Plus single target graveyard hate in a pinch.

Spellseeker - Just like Shred Memory it can find any of the 2 drop spells, mostly again Torment of Hailfire or Comet Storm. the fact it comes with a 1/1 body aswell is nothing to scoff at, atleast in my experience in playing highlander, plus with cards like Kolaghan's Command it has a much higher ceiling.
