The Goal

Fuel up our graveyard with mill effects and get a highly flexible available spell pool to hit our opponents with a crazy amount of removal, burn, etc, as well as build up board states through the sheer activity of casting spells.

In order to support Kess' recast ability, we've got a few extra recast sources.

  • Mission Briefing lets us dig and gives us what is effectively one more Kess cast for the turn.
  • Spellkeeper Weird is a pretty decent wall, but it can also help us recur a spell without necessarily losing it to exile.
  • Dreadhorde Arcanist plays well with the buffs from earlier and lets us recur a spell when swinging for free, any spell equal to or less than its power. You could even do something like buff it with Run Amok , twice.
  • Finale of Promise is game-endingly powerful, a card which if you happen to have some protection for your spells ready to go (read: 15 mana up), you can cast crazy big and powerful spells, twice each, and just game whoever you want. Works great with the Amass cards, Cruel Ultimatum, removal spells, buffs, etc.

Literally just counterspells

  • you have four counterspell slots. Run whatever you want. Graveyard checking counterspells are pretty decent in this deck which is why I run them, they come in the form of Countervailing Winds , Circular Logic , and Rakshasa's Disdain . I also run Force of Negation because it can let us queue other fuel into our graveyard, and it's cheap AF as well as a result. Really though, as long as you run 4 counterspells, you effectively get 8 (4 for other players turns, 4 to protect your turns).
