you can take out detention sphere and supreme verdict for Electrolyze and Mana Leak . they are perfect in a control deck and make ideal targets for snapcaster mage.

I like Electrolyze and will consider it. Mana Leak was originally in the build but became useless when trying to counter important cards later game. Decided to go with more turn shutdown cards instead. Supreme Verdict is a must because its a cheap board wipe that is difficult to get around, but I agree that Detention Sphere doesn't have to be in there.

Already have gitaxian probe so serum visions is unnecessary but it isn't a bad card.

No basic islands? A storm deck with Blood Moon post SB would wreck you.

I have Mountain and Plains in there.....

no he's right, with no fetchlands you can't do anything to get blue mana or get rid of bloodmoon. without Arid Mesa the chance of drawing that one basic plains to cast Wear / Tear is very low. you pretty much can't cast anything.

All of that is provided that blood moon hits the field and that i haven't gone infinite yet and that they have drawn into it. Plus if i flash in Restoration Angel in response blood moon does't stop me from going infinite.

Plus with 3 colors you can't really run many basics 2-3 at most to stay consistant

blood moon is a three drop, and if they play it turn three you have almost no chance (8.5%) to draw a plains AND combo off. you pretty much automatically lose. the chance of them drawing it turn three (if they sideboard three copies) is 42.7%.

freyhackbarth says... #11

you only need to run 1-2 of each basic, but fetchlands are the important thing.

I'm not worried about it because of how storm runs trying to drop blood moon turn 3 would be a pointless waste of storm potential. Storm has to run fast against control to outrun it. Plus by turn 3 i have plenty of answers even if they are on the play. Blood Moon is brutal if it hits the field but that is a huge if. Storm would be much better of just trying to storm me out then shut me down. You also can't change a deck because of a single card. You will wreck your build trying to get around everything.

Ok bud, don't say I didn't warn you, though. :)

ControlFreak1 says... #14

You are right it would be very painful if it hit the field. Just saying it isn't worth changing the mana base around for a single card. Just something to look out for and make sure to counter. :)

blood moon is the single most common card to sideboard in modern, this is the land count I recommend: 4 Scalding Tarn, 4 Celestial Colonnade, 2 Tectonic Edge, 4 Arid Mesa, 2 Sulfur Falls, 2 Hallowed Fountain, 2 Island, 2 Steam Vents, 1 Mountain, 1 Sacred Foundry, and1 Plains

July 17, 2014 11:27 p.m.

ControlFreak1 says... #16

Only need 2 Celestial Colonnade because they are not this builds win condition and I am not running fetch lands in this build because they are way overpriced for what they would add.

July 21, 2014 4:53 p.m.

freyhackbarth says... #17

so you're just going to concede to a turn three blood moon (remember, 42.7%)? fetching basics is your only real solution otherwise.

DatJunkPlayer says... #18

Fetch lands do so much for the deck though, they help filter through your library and provide you with more consistent draws. If you can't afford fetch lands and your meta is going to run blood moon there's almost no point in you playing UWR.

Lol again with this Blood Moon the chances that Blood Moon hits the field right on turn 3 are low do to the fact I RUN COUNTER SPELLS. Secondly I am not arguing that fetches are not good, they are not worth anywhere close to the price tag and they don't add that much more consistancy than shock/buddy combination. Unless I get them free or near-free they will not be run. Period. Plus the few instances that blood moon actually hit the field against me I flashed in Restoration Angel and went infinite before it was killed off. No big deal. It has the potential to wreck me but it also can help me out in that case. Most of the time it gets countered or Gitaxian Probe showed me it was in their hand and I used Silence before they could play it. Unless they make an uncounterable blood moon it isn't as big a threat as you people seem to think.

I assembled it slowly. Yeah pretty costly.

I like this version of Jeskai control! +1!

You do have 2 Cryptic Commands maybeboarded; I would encourage you to maindeck those. They have enormous utility power and can make things difficult for any deck found in modern.

Many Jeskai decks run Geist of Saint Traft. He's hexproof, so he's resistant to removal, and can swing for a full six damage. He's easy to kill in combat, but because your opponents shouldn't have much of a board against this deck, that is no longer a drawback.

Anger of the Gods could help against Birthing Pod and aggro decks.

You also happen to have a mix of promo/regular restoration angels. That's fine (I like doing that too), but for some reason, the promo version isn't included in the deck when you hit the playtest button. The playtester simply eliminates the two angels and starts you off at 58 cards. :)

Neat deck idea!

I like all of the suggestions and am constantly changing the build slightly from time to time. They will all see play in this deck at some point.
